As some of us may know. Nvidia G-SYNC syncs the frame rate with the refresh rate of the monitor, also allowing high refresh rate operation without tearing (i.e games, 3D video content) However a little known fact about these panel's is that the G-SYNC board also controls the DC backlighting, meaning in all the ones that have been tested it's just a flatline on the oscilloscope reading.
But JTL, why does this matter. Can't I just buy a Dell/BenQ monitor and be happy?
Well. It doesn't, technically it does. Ahhhh. However lately G-Sync laptops have been coming "on the scene" and those too are flicker free, which is good news.
See this review for example. Well I don't recommend ASUS products to anyone, due to poor quality control/RMA support/overheating this may pave a resonance of flicker-free laptops 😃
