Gurm In addition to the tips I already gave, here is another one that I think you should apply. In the same accessibility display accommodations settings at the bottom, turn reduce white point on and set it to 46% or so. You can leave display brightness at max. I think you will find that it makes things more comfortable. It's not quite the same as reducing display brightness, though you can use both together.
It reduces contrast by applying a black filter. It's quite nice actually. And of course there's the night shift mode as well which is also nice but I think I prefer color tint filter instead.
You can set a triple-click accessibility shortcut which will allow you to toggle reduce white point on and off from anywhere without having to go through the settings. If you select multiple options you can choose reduce white point and color filters from the triple click. Also can add an accessibility button to the control centre gesture.
