Hisense A9 is released- somebody bite the bullet and see if works in the USA

Received the g100. Works fine with Verizon. Did a speed test and got 66Mbps down and 45 Mbps up on 4g LTE.

As for eye strain, I'll use the phone for the next few days as my main phone and see how it goes. Did a quick test with a camera and the phone does seem to have vertical flickering lines under 65% brightness as another user mentioned. Above that and it disappears. I really hope I can use this phone, because I don't know what else to try at this point.

reaganry Any recommendations of a trusty seller? I don’t trust Good e-Reader. Since I got the Sun Vision monitor I eliminated all LED monitors from my life. It would be nice to do the same with my phone.

I've already started the return process for g100. Terrible eye strain. The problem is it's too bright above 65%, and below that it has pwm. Will try the iphone 8+ next. The iphone 11, and SE 2022 were no good either.

The g100 does work with verizon if anyone is wondering. The whole GSM/CDMA issue doesn't matter as long as the the phone has the LTE bands that your carrier uses. Even motorola's website claimed it's not supported by Verizon but this is false. The phone worked out of the box and the data speeds were excellent.

I currently use the Realme 9 Pro with has a 120 Hz LCD Display that Notebookcheck says works without PWM. I could also find with the Camera 1/4000 Shutter no clue for PWM.

I use it for over 2 months with a matte screen protector now and it works fine for me. The battery holds good and performance is good enough.

Next i could try the global Version of Redmi Note 11T Pro when it arrives in Europe.

degen yeah i wont use goodereader again. i think the main aliexpress seller is the way to go. was 'fish' now 'The Chosen Ereader store'. no warrantees from me though 😉

Since my X went goodbye, I tried a Xs Max and this phone makes me feel awful. I was considering the 11, but I don't have a good feeling about it even though it is LCD. Many who have issues with the 11 pro, 12 pro and so on had problems with the basic 11.

I am pretty much at a loss where to go from here. That ROG phone sounded awesome, but I haven't had anyone review it that has had similar issues with other phones.

The A32 I find better than my old device, which was an A6 with PWM (it is a work phone only) as it has an oled screen. The A32 is very bright but it has a screen protector on, not sure what sort though as I didnt do it but its usable for me for shot periods at least, I am not using it for games or media though.

The A32 does not appear to have PWM but it may have a pannel that my eyes / brain can tolerate perhaps, I do know some panels affect people differently.

It does make my eyes feel a bit funny but i do not get a migraine from it (yet)

Returned the G100 and bought an iphone 8 plus. Used it for a day so far. Hopefully this phone is usable. I read on macrumours to use it with the "zoomed in" setting. The phone updated to ios 15.5 automatically, I was worried about that but it seems fine the few hours that I've used it. Would prefer an android device but ios it is for now.

Looking forward to testing out the Poco X4 GT when it launches as well.

HAL9000 i have the a32 and it doesnot cause me problems then i bought a52s and it caused me problems

Any one tried the new samsung a53 ?? Some people say its pwm is not bad

              HAL9000

I've just realised the A32 I have is the A32 5G, which has a different screen (led) to the A32 (which is amoled)

The A32 5G doesnt have PWM, at least the one I've got doesnt. So that could be why people may have issues with A32 if its the AMOLED screen version as this will have PWM.

15.5 is ok for you? I might as well upgrade my 8+ then that I cant use thats already on 15 (15.2 I think?) then, already cant use it but maybe 15.5 will be ok

HAL9000 the a32 variant i have is super amoled and its super vivid and super bright and so easy on my eyes idk how lol , samsung screwed up displays so bad after 2017

Yes i also hope that it will be fine. The Dimensity 8100 is a capabel and efficient processor and it also has fast storage with UFS 3.1 🙂 Rumors says that it could start for 399€ in Europe.

So far with the iphone 8+ on 15.5, I can use it for messaging, gps, etc without too much trouble. I still can't read or surf on it though. It's definitley an improvement over any of the samsungs that I have (note 9, s21 ultra). I will most likely be keeping this iphone 8+ because all other devices so far cause far more headaches and eye strain.

For settings, I did what someone else mentioned in this thread:

Reduce white point, Reduce Transparency, Increase Contrast, use it on "Zoomed In" feature. I also made the font bold and increased the size as well. I keep brightness as low as possible without having to strain my eyes to read the screen.

I was thinking how I haven't read a physical book in 15 years. Today I picked one up and started reading in bright sunlight. It almost felt like my eyes can finally focus on something. I don't know why but it feels like for some of us we have trouble focusing on a screen. There's maybe too many layers and our eyes can't get fixated on something. Maybe that's why ereaders are more comfortable.

                Phones I've tried so far:

                iphone 11: No good

xperia pro 5g: My fav phone, used it for a year without problems then all of a sudden unusable, which led me to the rabbit hole of led strain.

                All iphone 13's: no good

                All iphone 12's: no good

                iphone se 2022: no good

                Samsung note 9: no good

                Samsung s21 ultra: no good

                Motorola: g100: no good

iphone 8+: tolerable for quick tasks (only had it for 2 days so will continue to update)

Try putting a matte protector from skinomi or something over one of your devices. Maybe you are trying to focus on the wrong "plane" and a matte surface will help you lock on to the right depth.

I wish I could report the panel model on my iPhone SE 2020. It is really good.. Apple uses multiple panel versions for this phone though so it is a gamble. The battery life is awful after some wear (not that it was ever good from the start). Maybe I can have the battery replaced 3rd party and find out the panel at the same time? I guess this would not help any buyer.
