Jota Just try any lcd phone you get much better experience than amoled I switched to more than 20 amoled phone recently not single one without any issues

Yes. it's better than most OLEDs for me. But DC dimming wasn't available (although it showed up in search) so I returned it. I'll await software update (if it ever comes) and retry.

Tried the Samsung A34 from friend, in every way horrendous, flickers, weird coloring, gave it back < 30 seconds 🙁

Dok123 About the g54: someone on the telegram group tested it and got pretty bad results with an opple light master, also it did cause eye strain :/

about the g62: 2 users here tested it, one had to sell it and the another one said it was pwm free. But i dont remenber if we have official reviws (like nbcheck) for that model (nbcheck is not so that trustworthly tho)

Honestly, the only way with this kind of stuff is for any one of you to go down to the store and check it out in person and come back again on a different day to get another opinion. Numbers are one thing, but subjective feel is another.

That wouldn't work for me since Apple Store itself may be using lights that flicker. The testing needs to be done in an environment that otherwise has flicker-free lighting.

Also, no live testing is really needed for me since I can't use any screens that flicker, no matter how fast or slow it flickers.

In my case going to the stores doesn't work. I never get problems using phones in the stores. And also don't get many problems in the 1st day while configuring the phone. The problems start by the 2nd day of usage…

sakraycore I'm in the same boat. I have a iphone 8 on 14.8. Apps are starting not to work and I can't update given whats happening with IOS 16.5 and up. I've tried 2 SE's before but could not use them due to temporal dithering. Not sure what to do at this point.

sakraycore If temporal dithering does not bother you I would say to try it and see if it works for you. I was also thinking about buying an iphone 14 and replacing the screen with an lcd screen as some people had success with that, but ubreakifix wants $340 to do it. I would need to find a place that does it for cheaper.

You don't need to go to the Apple store. There are many stores that carry iPhones if that is what you wish to inspect. Phone kiosk in Costco is an option for example since the overhead lighting in the store is high-intensity discharge lamps.

FYI, I bought the Realme 9 Pro 5G that Vividblu99 has recommended. It's been working very well for me. I bought it this past June. It's worth noting that Vividblu99 has purchased two of these phones and one works for him and the other does not, so perhaps it's a crapshoot.

I should note that I only use my phone about 5-10 minutes per day to take pictures, use Maps, send an occasional text or email, etc. But I'm not watching movies on it or anything like that.

I did buy the screen protector that Vividblu99 recommended, but I don't think that made a difference. Of course it's hard to say.

This is a modern phone (released Feb 2022) but certainly not a high-end phone. It sells for about $230.

I disabled the "eye comfort" setting. I could be wrong, but I think the "eye comfort" setting gave me headaches. I've attached a screen shot of all my "Display & Brightness" settings in case anyone is curious.

The realme 9 pro has proved to be a hit and miss, from some of the feedback I've been reading.

It works very well for some, and not so well for others.

FYI, I keep mine in dark mode, at a constant 60hz, alongside a celicious matte anti glare screen protector, and It's been working well for me for over a year.

Hi everyone! Some updates from me.

Some months ago bought an LG VA panel (can look up the model but I dont think its important) and it wasn't good on the eyes (high herz too).

Good news now, switched my OnePlus3 to Honor 90 recently, and can confirm its not causing problems. Color scheme set to Normal instead of Vivid, highest resolution and 60 hz option is completely fine. 120 hz im not sure about yet, just switched to it to test, as initially i started with low res and low refresh rate. Will report on the rate, but even if only 60hz is good, its still worth a try for you.

Actually after switching to 120hz, I forgot about it and realized a day after (today), so i think it doesn't change much, since i've been using it as usual. 120 is much smoother too , but i was worried it was not too comfortable. I can try to compare both again, but i think 120 is also fine.

I wonder if the formulation of the glass has anything to do with it. My device uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Specs on PP8 say Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The GPU on the Pixel is Immortalis-G715s MC10 which is from ARM and not Qualcomm or Mali or someone else. Could very well be the GPU as well.

I will look at it when the kiosk has it on display. One of you guys should also look.

I've came across a phone that I've taken a bit of a gamble on and after about 2 weeks of "getting used to it" seems to have become comfortable for me to use. It's the Motorola edge 40 neo. Yes it's an pOled screen but it has DC dimming and the flicker of 120hz sits with its refresh rate so its comfortable for me. I've had so many issues with screens in the past and most have been oleds, amoleds etc with pwm and high contrast ratios so I have had a lot of experience of bad phones. It's a mid range phone with a decent processor, 8gb ram, 256gb storage, 6.5 inch screen, 68w fast charge and a good camera. I got it as an upgrade but it can be bought for only £299 SIM free. It gets good reviews and so far the software experience is great as it's near stock android. I have my screen set to 120hz and flicker reduction set to off and that is the best setting for my eyes. Hope this helps anyone out there as I know it's a nightmare getting a decent phone with decent specs that we are all comfortable with. Any questions please ask.
