Throughout all of 2023, the Honor 70 Lite was the least problematic handset I've tried, and has provided the most comfort.

It's followed closely by the Honor X8A, however the X8A display has a very high saturation/contrast, so it may not be suitable for everyone.

I've found both of these comfortable when using them at a fixed 60hz refresh rate only.

It must be said that the performance/specs for both of them are trash, but that was something I was willing to overlook for eye comfort.

Other devices that i've found comfortable to use in the past include the older Realme LCD based phones such as the 9 Pro, 7 5G, 8 5G, X50 5G. Everything realme has released after these has been uncomfortable.

vegeta97 I've had the opportunity to try both the 4G and 5G.

I purchased the 4G model outright, and returned it soon after.

Based on the good experience I've had with the Honor 70 Lite, I really thought the Honor X7B would be similar, as they share similar display specs (90hz/TFT). But I was completely wrong.

I've found the X7B's display awful. I loved the form factor though. It has a 6.8 inch large display, and has a nice grip and the handset is comfortable to hold. Also the sound quality was good too. But they've really messed up on the display. Very uncomfortable.

Good phones from Honor are sold as hot cakes. You are pleased to look at 60Hz, because at 90Hz, modulation (PWM) increases by 1.5 times. At 120Hz, "eye fatigue" is multiplied by two. Let's check out the new "cheap" Honor X8b (which is great to look at). Set the brightness to 50%

The promised 3240Hz were stolen! Again. Huawei, it's not funny anymore! When will you add FullPWM (like Vivo)?

You just need to set the brightness to 25% (so that Huawei magic turns into a pumpkin) | PWM 16%

With a decrease in brightness, you can see "eye protection" at the 184Hz frequency.

It can be seen that the people who work at Huawei are not fools, but they don’t know how to make phones.

Yesterday I tested the Blackview Shark 8.
LCD screen but not good.
Under Opple Lightmaster test, it didn't show any flickering, but I had migraine and Eye strain.

Aquila The paradox is that the Honor 90 with Amoled 3840Hz the screen "safer for the eyes" than the any new IPS.

Did you feel strain on both refresh rates of 60/120hz?

There is something definitely wrong with these new LCD displays. I can't put my finger on what the exact issue is if it's not pwm.

I just got OnePlus 12 but will be returning it. It gives me instant headache and nausea.

I'll keep using my OnePlus 7T Pro and OxygenOS 11 (which still allows to turn on DC Dimming) for the time being because it's very easy on the eyes for me.

Anyone replaced the original oled screen of the iphone 14 or 15 for an lcd screen? I would like to try it, it may work for us who are sensitive to oled screens.

I had the chance to use the Nokia G42 again, for a solid 2 hours undisturbed. It's recently been updated to Android 14.

Odd eye strain/uncomfortable symptoms developed after 30 mins, especially using it at a lower brightness.

The symptoms are not as instant and obvious as they are when I've used am/oled devices. These symptoms were subdued, and progressively got worse the longer I used the device, but not as intense as my symptoms with am/oled's.

Maybe the G42 is using very high frequency pwm, or the cause of the discomfort could be the toxic backlight issue.

The Nokia G60 is substantially more comfortable than the Nokia G42. I hope the Android 14 update on the G60 doesn't negatively impact the comfortability.

Vividblu99 I recently bought a TCL Nxtpaper 40 4G - it gives me symptoms, quite severely. I tried all the different modes (colour paper, non-colour paper, reading, eye comfort, etc.) and subjectively some are better than others but none are tolerable for me. Back to the drawing board…

Vip Here's a phone review from VVividblu99. Most likely, TCL Nxtpaper 50 will also flicker.

The TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification 3.0 can be used only as toilet paper. Laughter, and only.

Both the 4G and 5G nxtpaper models use PWM, previously confirmed by TCL's customer service team. When the brightness drops below 50%, the phone becomes not safe for the eyes.

vegeta97 I tried the a7cc hisense eink phone and it was ok at first but as I kept using it scrolling around it just really made me sick. Bothered my eyes/brain with how bad the refresh rate is, also how it refreshes is like a flicker like effect.

vegeta97 Not phones no, but eink tablets (boox) and kobos/meebooks that I have tried, have been great.

The boox tab ultra is comfortable to use, although the display is slightly reflective compared to a standard eink reader such as a kobo/meebook.

I'm interested in the boox tab ultra c pro due to the snapdragon 855 chipset, along with 6GB ram. Currently, this makes it the most powerful eink tablet on the market. I'm keen to try it, but it is very overpriced.

These eink tablets still have a long way to go to make them fully usable as a web surfing device, as unless the highest page refresh mode is selected, a user will definitely notice jittery unstable motions if any of the other more standard refresh modes are used. Using the boox to read longer web articles is comfortable, but attempting to surf the more graphic and pop up intensive websites can be unsettling.

has someone tried the new motorola g34? it has a "simple" HD+ screen and is not ltps like other models, maybe is pwm free also?

someone in another site tested it and said it was too sharp and not good for the eyes , but he didnt test for pwm.

also, i dont remenber if i already said it on my last post...but i mow recommend the realme narzo 30 5g (my current phone) at 100% , my eyes needed some weeks to adapt but now i dont feel any eye strain with it, the only negative thing of it is the "intense" light and the white color that is too sharp for my taste even when you switch to natural profile, but even with that i dont feel any eye strain or dizzines like on amoled phones or some toxic lcd phones i had in the past, so i can recommend it without problem.

See if the phone has a blue light warming filter toggle.. my Samsung does. I use it in the evening/night at varying strengths depending on how much light is present around me.

Galaxy M33 works for me, kind of. At least it feels like I get less eye strain with it compared to SE 3. Writing it straigh outta Galaxy. There are newer models of this one today with better specs but the same display (I guess).

Display itself is not color-accurate and shows slightly wrong colors (tends to look like generic RGB) and maybe it is even 6 bit display but the OS does not seem to be doing dithering of any kind. Still device seems to be good for reading and watching videos
