I've personally reached out to many manufacturers - often corresponding via email - and 99.9% of them don't even know what PWM is, or that it is even an issue. My "complaints" were often forwarded from the general customer service departments all the way through to tech teams. Callbacks were even arranged. No support. No real explanation. Only that they've "received my feedback" and will share this with the relevant teams. 😐
Fast forward 2 years later, and we have the likes of Xiaomi, oppo and Honor, that have focused more on this issue and have attempted to address it with higher PWM rates. When I've reached out to them recently, all they supply me is with their marketing materials.
Realme once told me their DC dimming feature is only "experimental", & cannot be guaranteed. They told me they may look into providing more stable solutions in future software & hardware updates, and to keep an eye out.
Based from my own experience (in the UK), People rarely contact manufacturers directly, to raise this particular issue. Yes it's shared across some online forum/platforms, and there are maybe 20 or so YouTube videos about the issue - but compare that to the hundreds/thousand of other videos/articles, praising/reviewing/basking in the joy of smartphone amoled displays, and a huge consumer push for more amoleds on mid range/budget device segments, the PWM issue is only discussed by a very very small fraction in comparison.
I've lost count the amount of times I've had to debate with people on YouTube comment sections, when they ridicule LCD based phones and praise amoled.
