I'm happy to report that the Asus XG27AQ (1440p 27") is pretty good so far. The panel does not make my eyes dry (I have artifical tears always in front of me now so it helps aha) and the pain i had behind the eyes is entirely gone. The best part though is that the monitor is less bright than advertised so it's perfect for light sensitivity. This lower brightness was even cited as a default in many reviews, but it's honestly great to not have burning retinas. The ergonomics of the panel are great too, it can be lowered almost to desktop level. This is something big for me, as I often need to sit on my knees on my chair just to be able to look down on monitors.
Light reflections are almost non existant (or at least the reflections are very diffuse so it's great) and the IPS glow is minimal. The colors are less vibrant than the LG so it's also easier on the eyes. The contrasts are also 10 times better than on the LG, which is definitely a huge improvement for my eyes.
I still notice some flickering especially on text and plain images. I think it might have something to do with either GSync, pixel inversion, dithering, GPU issues or just the panel having to warm up or something (because the flickerings gets better after 30min-1h and my place is pretty cold ). It's invisible in games though, only desktop activities are affected (like my wallpaper, text in the browser). Other potential causes are my eyes behing fatigued, windows night mode which seems to make it worse and stress/coffee which seems to make my eyes vibrate.
Also considering buying a 2080 instead of a 3080 because it seems to be a better card in regards to eye strain.
Thanks everyone for your input, it was very much appreciated 🙂 I'll keep this post updated if I find exactly why there is some flicker embedded in my eyes.
