Tested on Chromium 114:

  • install Explorer Suite
  • download latest version of Chromium x64(with widevine and codecs)
  • navigate to chromium directory and open chrome.dll in CFF Explorer(Explorer Suite)
  • go to the Import Directory and rename the DWrite.dll import to DWri32.dll
  • go to the kernel32.dll imports and rename the DiscardVirtualMemory import to VirtualAlloc
  • save
  • copy DWri32.dll (backported DWrite.dll from Windows 10) to C:\Windows\System32 folder
  • create a shortcut to Chrome.exe, right click properties--> shortcut tab--> add '--no-sandbox' argument in target

Explorer Suite at me does not display the folders but have change it with another tool: Professional PE Explorer (PPEE)

Catsxp with kernel 114 are working. Maybe is 114 or 115 last?

degen By the way, I realized that no one mentioned here that the Supermium fork has a toggle to enable GDI font rendering which returns to the original much more native-looking and crisp style of fonts used in Chrome before mid-2014. After enabling this the text is super easy to read, even better than Firefox. Although Supermium is primarily a legacy fork for 7/8.1 support, this toggle is just as useful on 10 and 11 as well

It works again on x64 versions on Chrome/ium 125 and 126. But you need to edit Major Op.Sys.Version and MajorSubsystemVersion from A to 6.

It is pity that the same tweaks do not work on x86 versions (with modded dwrite.dll).
