Palit 3070 gaming pro/Palit GTX 1060
I bought a new video card (3070) and inserted it instead of the old one (1060). Immediately felt a deterioration in the screen image and eye pain. Manipulations with drivers did not help. After I got the experience of manipulating the BIOS in the previous workstation I decided to play around with this here. And surprise, the latest version of the motherboard BIOS solved the problem.

For this case, can you clarify which BIOS version was before the update and which after?

and which model is 3070?

glvn I have two workstations. First one based on Gigabyte Z370 HD3P + 8700k second one MSI B450 TOMAHAWK + ryzen 2600. Regarding MSI B450 TOMAHAWK only one bios good for me it is 7C02v11. An upgrade or downgrade causes eye pain. AMD based setup I tested with:
- Gigabyte GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5
- Palit GeForce GTX 1060 Super JetStream 6GB GDDR5 [NE51060S15J9-1060J]
- Palit GeForce RTX 3070 GamingPro V1 8GB GDDR6

In case with 3070 pain was intense and nothing helped even 7C02v11.
In case 1060 and 730 with the bios version 7C02v11 and selection windows and drivers, managed to achieve an acceptable result with other versions of the bios acceptable results has lost.

can you clarify which BIOS version was before the update and which after(on Z370 HD3P)?
Since if I understood you correctly, it was the update of the MB BIOS for the second station(Z370) that solved the problem with eye pain on Z370+gf 3070

machala A motherboard will not have any impact on video display performance. A BIOS has nothing to do with your display, all a BIOS does is run low level hardware checks and then passes control of the PC over to the OS. This would be like asking someone with car engine trouble what kind of chassis they had. It is not related.

If the motherboard has integrated graphics, the graphics chip would be what you would want to look into, but regardless, based on all the data I have seen our screen issues are almost 100% guaranteed to be a software issue, not hardware

ensete I tend to disagree. I downgraded a laptop bios and it definitely helped. A newer motherboard felt comfortable only on a certain version of BIOS that was bugged. Please don't underplay this.

I had a lenovo laptop that died cause i changed the screen while the charger was plugged. Got the EXACT same laptop mobo from aliexpress. And yet the image and feeling/sensation in front of the screen was 100% different. Everything else software related was the same.

By preventing igpu and dgpu drivers installation which is easy to do through device manager, you would rule out gpu software related issues yet people still have issues.
Remaining software is windows but then why the same windows version wouldn't cause issues 5 years ago but cause issues now for some people ?

Have two identical Fujitsu P710s with a D3161-a1 motherboard. The same bios, the same OS (Windows7 64). One of them is comfortable, the other causes eye strain right after 5 minutes of work. We move all the components from the comfortable one and install them on the uncomfortable one - power supply, processor (i3 3220), RAM. No changes, severe eye strain after 5 minutes. So, one of the motherboards is somehow causing this problem.

It is possible to compare CPU firmware (microcode) ?

You can also reinstall safe BIOS on bad MB and than clear nvram removing CMOS battery for 20 min

Regarding same motherboard, I know case where man replaced his amd 5600g CPU to 5700g, and met eye-strain

p.s. if Fujitsu P710s have own screen, can screen be the issue?

simplex CPU was also removed from comfortable one and installed on uncomfortable. New bios was installed on uncomfortable one (downgraded from 2.15.1231 to 2.15.1227 to match the bios on comfortable pc), battery was removed for 30 min. CPU- i3 3220, has hd 2500 integrated video. Also discrette card (GF GT 440 DDR5) tested. On comfortable pc all is comfortable - hd 2500 and GT 440. On uncomfortable - hd 2500 - severe eyestrain, GT 440 slightly better than integrated, but also uncomfortable. Image quality is the same - on comfortable and uncomfortable fujitsu.

Idk how to compare motherboards… measure voltage in each stage, use oscillograpf to compare signals out of each chip…

simplex Some device should be invented, that measures video output signal. After that it will be possible to objectively analyze the difference between signals and what can cause that difference.
