Reflex speed question for folks here

I wonder if there is anything medically common among us we might be able to nail down. I have been told I have fast reflexes. There is a video that said the pain is a result of our irises are actually trying to contract and expand to adjust to the flicker 60 times per second. Anyone else here have fast reflexes?

caboy How is the assessment made, with a reflex hammer? If so, I wonder how accurate it can be, but no, I was never told I have brisk reflexes.
Also, what flicker are you referring to, PWM or dithering? I have had more than one device go bad after an update. I still do not understand what changes graphically. Does PWM control change with the OS version/build/experience or is it solely hardware-determined?

Referring to the flicker in both. As far as I know PWM (pulse width modulation) is only in OLED displays.

Temporal dithering can be built into the graphics driver. When I upgraded my work Macbook to Monterey, I had terrible eye pain/strain immediately after rebooting. Never had any issues with that laptop prior to that. I think it can be built into the graphics card also. Or rather set as a default. Though I am not sure about this.

caboy I would think PWM is used in every LED-backlit device with the exception of more recent devices that feature DC dimming, but I am not an expert.

A similar thing happened to me with a Mac Mini. I was forced to upgrade the OS, if I recall correctly from High Sierra to Catalina, and my eyes began frying. I installed a Windows partition and I had zero problem. Back to Mac environment, the pain would return instantly. Excruciating and long lasting.

I have been keeping an eye open for any change in my settings following a Windows update. The graphics card drivers have remained the same as prior to the onset of the symptoms. There might be something finer that changed and I cannot detect, though. If someone has any tip on what to look out for, please share. Thanks.
