ryans The USB Paperlike emulates a GPU over USB for sure.
I'll take a look at the Paperlike Pro software later to see if it does anything.
I haven't even seen an EDID dump from the Paperlike Pro, but the underlying issue people were having with Intel graphics was that Intel graphics was still dithering despite the display reporting to the GPU that it could do 8-bit color depth without dithering.
Maybe newer OS X/macOS versions do something differently?
With my Macbook Pro (AMD graphics) connected to a BenQ 8-bit monitor by HDMI or DIsplayport->DVI cable I can see dithering patterns if I look closely at a grayscale gradient pattern in Photoshop.
