I recently built a PC with an RTX 4090, and i7 13700KF.

I used a 49” monitor for years with Mac, I could be in front of it all day, no eye pain at all.

I use the exact same settings, same cable with the PC, and both Windows and Ubuntu are causing heavy eye pain after 10 minutes. It’s like pixels are running around, and I have to focus like an eagle to read text. Very uncomfortable. I also use night light to reduce blue light. I tried all settings, different cables, nothing worked.

I remember many years ago I had a laptop which was fine, I reinstalled Windows then it got the same eye pain issue. Then in service they set it up correctly, and the eye pain went away.

This is a £3k PC which I cannot use at the moment because the eye pain is not only while using the PC, I can feel the dizzyness the next day too.

Now the question is if I switch to a CPU with iGPU, is it possible that the issue will go away? I’m asking because it would be a quite expensive trial as CPU returns are usually not welcome, and no one would buy a 13700KF.

Thanks in advance

Grgsz have heard of newer iGPU causing issues too. Might be worth to even try a old GPU like a Quadro k4200 or something which I think is safe? I seen them on eBay as cheap as $30usd

The iGPU would be the Intel Integrated Video card I suppose. You would most likely experience symptoms. If you do, you can try disabling dithering with ditherig. Another older card that is still available for purchase and it is generally considered symptom-free by many folks is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super.

For me is the opposite. Stain with iGpu no strain with dGpu
