  • reaganry Not at all. The hisense a9 is terrible in the US. When I had one it was stuck on 2g or no signal. The hibreak pro has been great. I only use LTE on it, havent tried 5g. I havent tried att but tmobile only. The full band list for the hibreak pro:
5G NR supports bands is as below :

    NSA:N1/2/3/5/7/8/20/25/28/38/40/41/66/77/78 5G SA:N1/2/3/5/7/8/20/25/28/38/41/77/78

4G LTE  supports bands is as below :

    LTE-FDD :B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/66

    LTE-FDD :B34/B39/B38/B40/B41

    • FabiFr Do the lamps have a dimmer built into them? If so it could be causing dirty electricity. Even the bulbs alone could cause it too. I think someone has done testing for it with different bulbs somewhere online. Between the lamps and the printer possibly you could be EF sensitive? I would definitely avoid the LED and CCFL bulbs.

      • asus389 if I'm not mistakened I think p3 panels all use ksf/pfs phosphor which could be the trigger too

        • simplex Well also with LED its directional and much more intense light, similar to a laser. I think its a couple things about leds that bug me. I dont get pain, just more neurological effects. I know with amber leds in the daylight tablet it made my vision look really unnatural. I think phosphor plays a role. I didnt really give the led front light a try on this. Just was testing only for other people.

Clokwork so far its been great and much more comfortable to look at. if you want to access your iphone messages on it you can just download openbubbles. You just use a mac only once to generate an id and then you can sell or leave it turned off. I was doing that for awhile to use imessage on android. I set it up on a macbook I sold forever ago and it still works. Blue bubbles requries a mac on at all times as a server but open bubbles does not. My minimal phone (OED panel which is basically eink) should ship soon, I feel like that could be better with actual buttons for a keyboard.

nostrain Not really I mean I use a dasung 13.3 monitor for a pc monitor and its been amazing (eink). I have seen some of those links on reddit and always have been able to spot them.

There is actually a gap between the top layer and the eink panel due to front light im assuming. I personally never once thought about it in a negative way until I read some posts. I still dont mind it. Would be nice without the gap but its not a deal breaker at all. viewing is not difficult either with it

        • Intet firefox nightly or the rebuild of it called fennec has about:config that allows you to disable color management stuff BTW. Probably no need if it feels fine for you though. I've used app cloner in the past but I never paid for it.i used it to duplicate apps to have multiple logins

        • I am so tired of normal screens and how they make me feel so I plan to daily this. This has been much more comfortable with no migraines. Definitely has trade offs as it's black&white and also isnt as smooth since it's eink but I'd say it's well worth it. I programmed the extra 2 buttons on the side to act as pg up and down to reduce "smooth scroll"

It has a front light with both warm and cool light but unfortunately warm emits blue light still.

        • Intet

So on my xiaomi 13t when I hop between apps I can see the colors go very vibrant when i open facebook for example. I was wondering about apps being the issue and if your saying that youtube bothers you but youtube through firefox does not then that makes total sense! The snapdragon alternative I think is dolby vision? You could technically change the build prop values for dolby vision and such I think? also the app "app cloner" has the ability to modify apps and clone them. One of the options it offers is to disable wide color gamut support which I think would be the fix for the app related strain. I just have not tried it as I think you have to pay for the app.

          • Well first thing is they are much slower than a normal 60hz monitor. Dasung has their revo line which is much faster for videos and such. I think some people did game on them but its only 33hz. I personally dont watch videos on eink just web browsing, email, fb messenger, etc. (Text based stuff)

I have the dasung paperlike 13.3 hd-f monitor(white one) before the revo model and I love it. Only way I can use a computer at the moment. I use it on text mode only and on the second to fastest speed mode. Text mode is more black and white only. If you look at older b&w eink panels they may appear darker but the newer ones like mine are using new carta panels. The color eink panels are using kaleido 3 panels which are a lot darker since they have a color filter. Dasungs color filter sorta has a screen door effect which I didnt like. I think some other eink devices like boox and kobo tablets have a better color filter with less of that effect. Color eink is a little behind black and white, especially being lower PPI while b&w eink is higher PPI.

          • FabiFr I think its spatial dithering since it stops when your not scrolling. I just avoid display modes that use more dithering. On my dasung I use text mode which is mostly no spatial dithering but on some grays I think its used which I recently found out. It still is comfortable to me I will say.

          • Clokwork No problem! btw when I say I didn't like how they're achieving fast speeds, I just mean when scrolling for example it feels uncomfortable. Theres almost like some sort of motion blur or something.

          • Clokwork Dasungs current models can achieve 33hz for 25.3", 40hz for 13.3" and 60hz for their 10.3." I personally didnt like how they are achieving the faster speed on the 33hz 25.3, I sold it right after I got it. I am typing on the white hd-f 13.3 (one before the 40hz) and I enjoy it. I use it on text mode and set speed to 1 below the fastest. Its fast and has way less ghosting compared to other devices.

            • Rowe bigme just recently acquired that domain from goodereader

            • Clokwork I'm glad! No problem. Hmm I think the easiest way is to get polarized glasses and see if you can see what's being displayed or if it's black. Depending which orientation it's polarized it'll be black or showing the image. I think older screens are black with polarized glasses if I'm not mistaken. If it looks like a rainbow I think that's circular polarized. Btw I remember someone saying they removed the metallic layer in a LCD backlight assembly and it helped remove strain. Was some post on here somewhere

            • Clokwork from what I'm aware of some are vertically polarized while others are horizontally polarized. There's also circular polarized which I know oleds tend to use but unsure if any LCDs exist with a circular polarizer. Might be good to note down bad/good devices and how they're polarized. I'm sure it doesn't affect everyone but seems like there are people who definitely are bothered by it. Someone did make a post about using tracing paper to cancel out polarized light but I never tried it personally.

              • I think for some it definitely is the cause. I have had the worst luck with LCDs in general which I am thinking is due to how theyre polarized. I know when I wore polarized glasses in the past they made me feel not so good.

Unfortunately theres no way to use whatsapp on it without the extra steps that arent supported by Light. If the screen didnt have a significant screen refresh constantly it would have been worth to do those extra steps. I think the better option would be to maybe wait for the mudita kompakt phone or the minimal phone if you have to have whatsapp.
