I feel like an idiot writing this.
June 20th I was playing the new Elden Ring DLC, (something I was fully aware had given me slight motion sickness and nausea/dizziness in the past), but decided to persist through the sickness as my desire to play was stronger than my brain's attempt to tell me this was a terrible idea. 3 days of 6 hour gaming sessions later, I start to get a terrible persistent headache and feel disoriented in the mornings/after long periods of using my computer. These symptoms began to worsen over time until I started cutting back on screen time/taking breaks.
The problem is, this issue of disoriented/dizziness still occurs when using my phone screen for more than a few minutes at a time (pixel 7 pro, apparently terrible for PWM) and even playing other games on my PC! It seems that it is primarily games with alot of camera movement that cause issues for me, third person shooters/dark souls games where the camera will spin around. My monitors are currently PWM free (MSI 274QPX and LG 34GP83A) and are 240hz and 160hz respectively.
The optometrist has referred me to a neuro-ophthalmologist, however for the next 2 months what sort of steps can I take to manage these symptoms? I hate to say it but my entire life has been online up until this point, and simply not gaming is soul crushing.
Im starting to think it may be eye-strain induced BVD but I wont have an answer for a few months.
