Trying to make sure I’m not using dGPU. Moved the monitor cable to the right slot but just to be sure should I do something inside of the computer? Remove the cable maybe? To completely remove the dGPU from inside I’d need to get a screwdriver. Would moving/removing the cable be enough?

Or is there any way to check which gpu its using at the moment to make sure its iGPU?

    Jl1994 Hi,
How are things going ? have you managed to get acomfortable setup ?

autobot Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Not yet, I thought I had solved the problem when I saw that my monitor is only PWM free at the highest brightness. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/asus/proart-display-pa278cv I thought that was why I felt better at the start and then worse later on, thought I had turned down brightness. :edit Actually I see now its not the exact same monitor reviewed here as the one I have. I have cgv not cv. However turning the brightness to max didnt help so I bought HP omen 27q to test, that didnt feel good either.

Currently thinking of buying new hardware to test, just not sure exactly what to buy. Thinking intel arc for graphics but not sure if I should try replacing something else too like motherboard. Its been kinda overwhelming reading about all the things that could cause problems.

        Start with exercises:

After doing exercises for my exercises as outlined on page 93 here a couple times I day I was able to adjust to my new smartphone. This helped significantly. Perhaps it released some long held tension/muscle spasms?

Edit: I would say I started with the exercises after having the device for 1-2 weeks, till I started the exercises there was very litttle adjustment (initial head pressure as a symptom, then later I experienced eye strain). I honestly the reduction of eye strain was already there even after doing the exercises for like 2x10min in one day.

I also did something else: picking out a focus point on the screen (like a dot or something thats easy to focus on) and trained to hold a steady focus on that point. Then moving the phone away from me and then towards me to vary the distance. I guess it trains the convergence of the eyes. With some displays text appears to be moving, this helps somewhat with it.

And working on my SCM seemed to help a bit: https://youtu.be/bHRpaBzaLrc which also helps my forward head posture.

moonpie "Your UHD770 is fine." Is that 100 % confirmed? I just wanna be totally sure. I know that whisperingwind checked his arc and that was fine even on windows 11 thats why I was thinking of getting it

. Oh so the omen is not 100 % flicker free but those others are?

karut Appreciate the tips, very nice of you. I'll check it out.

We all have individidual reasons why screen bother us. People are sensitive to different things.

So it could be that something in windows 11 is triggering you and not someone else.

Also brigthness could be a trigger. But even if the display at 100% brigthness, which generally has a good likelihood to eliminate baclight flicker on screens , you could use things like the chrome extension "dark reader" that Lets you contol brigthness using software only, in a safe way.

moonpie Linux is out of the window unfortunately since you cant play on the poker sites I need to play on there. Can only try that for testing(although last time I tried ubuntu wouldnt load). Tried win10 for a few hours(didnt really notice much of a difference) wasnt the best test I have to admit but at least now I know what to do if I wanna try it again.

If I just judge from those pics the gigabyte looks even better than the dell right?

autobot Brightness could definitely play a part, my iphone pro feels way better(not perfect) than the computer monitors but if I turn the brightness to max it feels bad. I also find myself getting an ”ughh” feeling whenever I go from a dark page to a bright one on the computer. Feel like it increases strain.

So to summarize so far a question - "Newbie- Where do I start?""- we can clearly highlight the circular nature of this vicious circle. There is no clear start, and end is against all the odds. Its like all those reviewers who review variety windows laptops. Most of them use macbooks, but the gift of windows complexity and ambiquity allows them to continuosly do what they do. And there aint no hiker who would take off his/her shoes 🙂
