OK @JTL I finally got the AMD Pro W5500. You say you have a good setup with this and stock GENTOO? I couldn't get that installed, so I'm running crunchbangplusplus per @ensete and it's [edit:not good] pretty good but not perfect. Did you try other distros?

    reaganry I don't think it's exactly a question of the distro in use, just how it's configured.

    What are your other system specs, desktop environment and other configuration in use?

        CBPP/Debian12, OpenBox. no compositor per ensete. AMD Ryzen 5 3600. AMD Radeon Pro W5500 (navi14, LLVM 15.0.6, DRM 3.54, 6.5.0-0.deb12.4-amd64. known good LG 24gl600f screen

          jordan its not clear that monitors without frc actually exist. i think frc goes away when it's set it to 6 bit (dp, limited blacks) in windows... let's focus on getting a recommended W5500 config in this thread.
