Hi

I have an issue with eyestrain on a lot of newer screens. I use a Sony x900e TV as it's the only one I've found that doesn't give me issues. I've been playing games on a ps4 on this TV with no eyestrain, and decided I wanted to upgrade to a ps5 for the better loading times and graphics. However now the ps5 is giving me serious eyestrain on the same TV that's never caused issues before. My eyes feel like they are squeezing and burning. Anyone know what settings I can change either on the ps5 or the TV to minimize this eyestrain?

Thank you.

Is the PS5 connected to a different HDMI port? If yes, the port may have its own settings (brightness etc.) that differ from the port the PS4 is connected to. Try to match the PS4 port's settings or use the previous port without changing any of its settings to see if it helps.

I only have a (usable) PS4 but I made sure to disable HDR. Being sensitive to high LED brightness, I need to have full control over the brightness, and HDR would take that away.

Also try to analyze if the eye strain comes from particular games. Some games on the PS4 are sources of eye strain for me. It has been the same for the PS3.

ludwig yep, if your TV is not true 10bit, it will use dithering with HDR and deep color settings enabled, which will cause you issues. I recently bought TCL QM8 with 30kHz PWM and true 10bit, no issues at all, finally can enjoy playing PS5. Before that I had SONY X90J with 8bit + FRC panel and 720hz PWM and it was hard to use it even with hdr and deep colors enabled.
