Hi,

I seem to have more light sensitivity than flicker sensitivity. I also can't use dark mode, due to an astigmatism.

I am looking for a good Linux laptop. Among other things I'll need a good dimmable screen.

I can't go to computer stores to look there, because the bright flashing lights and loud noise make me sick, and mke it impossible to check screen brightness.

Notebookcheck has a partial listing, and can show minimum brightness with other data. https://www.notebookcheck.net/PWM-Ranking-Notebooks-Smartphones-and-Tablets-with-PWM.163979.0.html It doesn't look like there are any manufacturers which reliably provide usable screens. It also doesn't list anything I have used without trouble, so I can't find a good baseline.

jordan Dark Mode makes most text light, and most backgrounds dark.

For me, that makes most text blurry. I might be able to use 20 pt font in light mode, but need 30 pt in dark mode.

I think it's a subtler form of the same effect that results in halos around bright lights, especially in the dark.

Ananiujitha Just as I can use gamma controls on some external monitors, to reduce brightness below 0% or below the pwm threshold, whichever is higher, I can use xgamma on laptop monitors i Linux. I still want a low regular minimum brightness.
