So my trusty old laptop, that I had no issues with, recently crashed. I had to recover it from a win 7 disk and did not do full factory restore. Upon finally getting it to work, i noticed that I need to reinstall drivers - switchable, so both Intel and AMD.
I did from official website, however since the switchable part seems to be difficult, the intel driver installed ok, but the AMD one only seemed to be fine, however the Catalyst windows nor the driver setting would open. I also couldnt switch between them.
I must say I also noticed it produces quite annoying eyestrain and headache. On a machine that never did that, is measured to have CCFL PWM that doesnt bother me and was always completely fine.
This leads me to believe that the driver was working improperly and some kind of dithering or messing up of screen was present. Therefore it seems that only a faulty VGA driver, with nothing else present, can be a source of eyestrain. It was also a different kind of strain than PWM one, but still very annoying. It also easily transferred to my external monitor, even via VGA cable, which before I thought was not possible. I wish I could research what is wrong with it. Solved it by only installing the Intel one.
Have you ever had any trouble under win 7 and CCFL? This is the first time for me and really proves just a driver can cause this issue.
I am planning to clone this disk and then do a factory reset, so the drivers are original but I have a copy for research. If you have any ideas how I could proceed, please let me know.
