I have a Benq 4k 8bit flicker free monitor and eye strain is still an issue.

is this card still working for you? would you say it is a total solution? I purchased a gx730 because others found it to be usable, and it did not work for me. My sensitivity went way up after working for Google in Fremont for a short period of time. They had horrible LED lighting that seemed to make me permanently more sensitive to flicker.

I am curious about your setup, would you mind sharing your details?
what monitor?
What driver are you using?
do you have any special xorg.conf flags like Option “Dac8Bit” “True”

BenQ GW27560HS connected by DVI but I plan to upgrade it after I finish working on my dithering fix for OSX (Macbook Pro) so I can use it with both of my computers

Well I adjusted and saved the dithering settings in nvidia-settings
but it looked OK even without it. I really want a lossless PCIe capture card so we can gather some empirical data on dithering and such.
I just ordered the k4000, so we will at least get a sample size of 2. Most things that work for others do not work for me, so I am stuck on Eink for now. I called Benq and they recommended the GW2480,GW2780,GL2580H to prevent FRC. we shall see.
ShivaWind I am of the opinion that LED is bad no matter what. E ink is the right move. There is something about it with people like us that just isn't right. Even if it's good it usually only lasts for a bit then your screwed trying different screens again.
jasonpicard But are the same people that are bothered by LED monitors also bothered by LED overhead lights and street lights?
MagnuM I can't tolerate LED no matter what the source. I wear orange glasses all day at work and hide in my house at night every night.
jasonpicard Any head injuries, issues with concussions, etc in your past? Have you always been light-sensitive, or only recently?
MagnuM no issues ever. I can't even remember the last time I was sick. I'm very active. I haven't taken an Advil since 2012 or any pills. One day in 2008 I couldn't tolerate LED and CFL and I have never been the same since. If I guard against it though I have no issues.
jasonpicard Before 2008, do you remember what monitors you were able to use without issues? CRTs and CCFL-backlit LCD monitors I'm guessing? What were the "known good" setups for you?
MagnuM I was using a Dell laptop I bought in 2006. I was ok with it for two years. I don't remember which version it was. May have been called a 1501. I was also always playing a NDS and PSP which were ccfl and I was fine. I played my PSP so much and had no issues. Still makes me sad that I can't play it.
