Tested the usual suspects ditherig 2.21, colorcontrol 10, novideo_srgb. They have ZERO effect. Dithering is shown OFF but as you see it is not.

smilem Thanks for sharing this and for all the effort you've put into those videos. Really interesting to see that even a 2006 monitor still shows dithering when the signal is sent that way. Would be great to see how it behaves with a VGA (analog) connection if your graphics card supports it. Also, have you ever managed to fully disable dithering on any system, like older versions of Windows or Linux? A video of that would be a brilliant comparison.

The dithering is not disabled. visible with slow motion camera. this GPU (Radeon HD 3850 AGP) - monitor combo dithers also in BIOS.
