Aquila After 3 days of testing, the Asus Rog strix 1080ti 11gb is by far the best GPU used until now.
On Win 10 1809 + Hp X27i + Nvidia 528.02 , great relief, paper like, and the benchmarks are great a little better than my old 2070s.
If you can pick up this GPU, try it.
I secured one of these 1080ti cards and have installed it onto my pc with 1809 LTSC, with updates blocked, and the 528.02 drivers. To be safe I did a clean reinstall of the Nvidia drivers.
Unfortunately I’m getting classic low level eye/brain strain.
This is on my Dell 2407 CCFL monitor via hdmi->dvi cable.
I kinda expected this result but I’m gonna try a few more things:
- Reinstall the OS as this build was from some previous testing, so a fresh install will mean I can be totally sure it hasn’t got any updates.
- Try a straight dvi-dvi cable.
- I can also try my M32Q monitor but the 2407 has been ‘good’ in the past (now a long time ago) so I doubt it’ll be a magic fix.
Much of my testing was various indie games and many of these are Unity based. In my experience Unity games are worse case for eye-strain.
My current theory is that Nvidia cards that have run recent drivers are rendered ‘bad’ with low level (bios) config. This is the case with my FOUR Nvidia G1 Gaming 970 cards. In the past I could get a working good setup with these cards but I just have had zero success with any of them and various windows versions.
