Re: The Paper 7 https://shop.harborinno.com/products/paper-7-8gb-256gb-color-7-8-rlcd-tablet-with-android-14?variant=50637728743718
Just got a support reply regarding FRC – they confirmed it's a true 8-bit panel. As we all know, a panel without FRC is only half the story, but it’s still good news. I also asked about dithering (even though it shouldn't be there with 8bit panels), and they confirmed there’s no dithering applied to fake colours.
It’s a "backlight-free" design, which could be an issue for some if you need to work at night. Overall, these are very promising signs – but still only part of the story. The device runs Android 14, which on LCDs can still cause strain for unknown reasons. The type of LCD itself might be a problem for some.
Hope this helps someone.
