Ive recently started a post about my laptop crashing and giving me issues.
I was using acer 5820tg with win 7 home premium and double cards (intel HD and ATI) for 6 years with no issues.
However the drive failed, I had to put in a new one and used the system restore CDs that I created when the laptop was bought to restore it to factory defaults. After that, both cards started feeling quite uncomfortable. The ATI triggers migraines, the Intel is uncomfortable and after a longer period of use also triggers headaches.
I tried updating the drivers right from acer website exactly for this model (latest is 2012), but it does not seem to help much.
How is this possible? It was reset to factory defaults, and I have been using it with those defaults in the beginning when I bought it with no problems. Then of course some win 7 updates and driver updates happened, but I cannot get what their versions were now before the crash. I measured the backlight with an oscilloscope and its still the same amplitude. Am I going crazy? Is there something I could miss? Is there a win 7 version that works and some that dont (various Service Packs)? I had firefox quantum on it before as well as newest version of Chrome. They were fine, now quantum seems worse and chrome is somewhat ok.
I bought the same identical laptop second hand, ordered the system restore CDs and now Im trying to experiment with them both to see where the issue might be. Could you help please?
Also when it was auto installing drivers after system restore, it seemed that in the beginning it was all fine and then at some point, at one of the drivers (might not be graphics), it changed and started being annoying.
Also which version of linux is best and user friendliest to just download and boot from USB so I can try that too and see if it at least doesnt work with linux so I can write, go online and do some non-graphical work pain free.
