Don't have an answer yet. I should further limit that scope to say I don't have an answer for MY computer yet.
Has anyone else tried using AI to try to help find a solution? I have been using Grok and ChatGPT for the last week or so. In that time, I have learned far, far more about what is going on with my computer than I did in the last 3 years trying to read stuff on my own.
Again I do not have an answer for my computer yet. So I cannot speak to how effective it is. But I have gone through a large list of stuff that I never would have thought of on my own. My computer is Linux. Between Grok and ChatGPT I have tried:
- Setting Intel registers manually. There was a thread here about Intel registers, but no-one seemed to understand which registers should be set, or what values should be used. ChatGPT was very good about explaining all of that. My register values could not be set due to being overwritten by an unknown something.
- ChatGPT has tried to help me patch the linux i915 driver to force dithering off. Which still has not worked. But it is good to explore.
- Grok tried to look through source code at a program I installed that triggered dithering on my computer. It was not able to find anything directly in the source code. But it was still good to look. And kinda points to other things.
- There is other stuff AI has suggested that I have forgotten about too.
Some of the stuff the AI suggests is wonky and AI can have wonky errors. It has been a good learning experience. Has anyone else tried AI to help? There are probably people here who know far more about programming that I do and could probably get more out of AI than me.
