Yes, there must be a big UV light deficiency in the general public. As Jordan says, UV light has crucial value to the body, and severely limiting UV exposure must have a number of detrimental impacts.

Also, cataracts replacement lenses block UV, so once you have those in your UV exposure through the eyes drops to 0. Many but not all contact lenses block UV. On the other hand, all contact lenses make one more sensitive to sunlight.

I stopped using contact lenses because I don't like the idea of them for a few reasons. If I want correction I wear corrective glasses. Yes, they block UV as well.

Juy no problem! The uv stuff I read online. I Follow dr jack kruse and some others online who share this information along with the study. Theirs a pubmed link about uv and myopia. You can get basic lenses with uv if you ask. Some places can do it. I know for sure warby parker cant. For contacts Dallies total 1 dont block uv, my mother uses them. I think for cataract lenses there is at least one that exists without uv block that kruse mentioned. He also has followers that improved cataracts though naturally.

I used those as well, but I found they made my eyes much more sensitive to sunlight when they were in, so I had to wear sunglasses or else ignore my body. The lenses are very slick, like oil, and reflect the sunlight all around while simultaneously smothering the eye. However, they're supposed to be better than most due to superior breathability.

Does your mother require sunglasses for normal daylight when those Total 1 contacts are in?

Curious as well about what has worked to improve cataracts naturally.

jordan I’ve always read about UV light as mostly harmful and cancerous this is completely new to me and actually really interesting unfortunately I can’t find prescription lenses without this filter. Do you know any other information about. Myopia and astigmatism correction? Do you suffer these? In case how do you integrate your solutions for eye strain/fatigue with this?

Juy They demonize UV light with those things. The skin cancer usually comes from the chemical lather people use (sunscreen). Our body needs UV for so many things so its foolish for them to say its bad. I remember Ive gotten glasses in the past and they would ask if I wanted UV block which was more money, I think it might also be called anti glare? Zenni optical might be able to do them without uv block as well but their frames are cheaper quality.

This was just a quick search but this might talk about it (I didnt pre read this) but Dr jack kruse has talked about it in the past. I would pull up more links but I would have to find them. You can join his forum there are people that have fixed their vision and I believe some of them are much older too. I honestly seem to be very myopic and I have responded well to diluted atropine drops but had to stop taking them due to side effects (affected heart rate and breathing) - If I stay off all screens my vision goes back to very incredibly clear. Right now its blurry and slightly double. I noticed if I look up at the sky (not directly at sun) my eyes relax and things get noticeably clearer. I am trying to religiously get AM sun and evening sun which is part of helping your eyes. Btw myopia is on a rise and I have been wondering if its due to LED backlit screens not emitting uv? Having LEDs indoors seems like it can also drive worse vision compared to Incandescent and Halogen which both emit some UV.

I have myopia and astigmatism and I'm at the age now where I need dedicated glasses/bifocals/progressives.

Sucks!

It makes a big comfort difference having one set of glasses for up close reading, for arms length work and distance.

Sunspark Btw regarding astigmatism, my friend recently tried Ovitz lenses which correct higher order abbreviations. I think astigmatism correction doesn't always fix things when HOA is an issue. He said his vision is significantly more clear and he can use dark mode when previously he couldnt. I am wondering if being in sun alot without blockers could fix HOA though hmm

jordan Valuable post. Are you still using OLED some of the time?

K-Moss Thank you! - I never normally use OLED anymore unless I need to view a quick photo on my old phone. I have used it very recently for that and did use it a bit longer to view a bad LCD device through the camera. After just little exposure my eyes are so much more blurry and I get weird vivid dreams. Its something I have went back and fourth with many times and 100% know its from that OLED device.

jordan I ask because you claim IPS LCD is even worse for you than OLED. My suspicion is that OLED use makes one more sensitive to all screen technologies.

K-Moss The thing is even when I went on a long screen break of I think around 8 months the LCD iphones still were very bad. Even with OLED use I still find my VA ccfl tv just fine and never gets any worse

Regarding eyes, my eyes don't seem to be getting any better despite lots of going without glasses and in the sun, but my eyesight isn't deteriorating either. It's stable. RE: Dr. Kruse, he doesn't look to me like he's aging any slower than people who don't obsess about those matters. So I view his work mainly as a career move. What he says does have credibility, but you can easily get OCD about it and think what he talks about is more powerful and significant than it actually is.

When you get older, the eyeball becomes stiffer that's why it's harder to focus.
