hpst Hi, you're maybe in wrong place to ask that question 😃 Most people here seem to be affected by PWM (or most think that's the reason).
I have general light sensitivity (and I suspect a good chunk of the audience here does too, although still undiagnosed) and I have the very same experiences as you.
I work full time with three 24' screens at work, where there's plenty of daylight. It works quite fine (not perfect, because there are always other sources of light, etc). If I try to use a single screen at home (I bought one that was exactly the same I have in the office) no matter what I do it gives me terrible migraines.
The reason is twofold:
1) At night there's no way I can make the screen not be the brightest thing in the room (I tried having very strong halogen lights but if I do that then I end up having migraines every time I walk around in the room and face the light);
2) During the day my room is not that well illuminated. Near the window there's plenty of light but in the other side of the room there isn't much -- this contrast must probably somehow screw up things because I still get migraines.
I was curious if other people experience the same and if they do, what possible solutions they found.
Extra info:
1) I'm definitely extremely sensitive to blue light. The old screens at our office were pure torture. Luckily they bought new ones (HP Z24n) that are so much better.
2) PWM seems to make no difference to me.
3) Fonts and aliasing seem to make a huge difference to me. So different operating systems, for instance, may trigger or not trigger migraines.
4) Florescent / LED light should be outlawed!
