No dithering and no flicker means it's the best. The very best. The only phone in North America like this. And I tried it before I watched the video. I tested it like 5 times and it's the best for me.

I compared it to all the phones on display in best buy multiple times. It is the best despite it's 720p screen. Maybe some hmd IPS phone will look the same, I didn't see it.

TCL went back to Amazon. It was dithering and software was bad compared to Moto. Too glitchy

That TCL was pretty close. It would only induce eye pain after a while. But as I said software was trash. Very annoying to use phone. All the rest of the phones use dithering or PWM or both. OP13 looked somewhat okay short term

I looked at it and the Stylus again today.. the Stylus just has that much of a nicer looking screen and better specs.

The 2025 is too low resolution and not bright enough backlight (a touch on the dull side).

Stylus is $170 more expensive though where I am.

But if someone wants something cheap that they don't need to spend all day on, then yeah, the 2025 is one of those throw it in the pocket and forget about it phones.

Sunspark Was the Stylus better for your eye comfort? It uses OLED. Totally different. Generally the only way to properly tell is to buy both units and try them out for 30 days.

Mind you one reported they had a horrible first week with the Xiaomi 13T before adapting and finding it comfortable. Some insist the body needs time to adapt to new devices.

Nevertheless, I would be shocked if the Stylus is as comfortable as the Moto G 2025 once both are tried in your home.

Higher brightness isn't necessarily better. Nick Sutrich says he developed sensitivity to PWM only as the displays got brighter.

Garman You can get some other 720 resolution phone. Motorola is a Chinese brand owned by Lenovo. They don't make the panel, and the other Chinese brands using 720 resolution panels will likely have the same panel.

@K-Moss I think it was, in part because it wasn't low resolution. I am pretty used to my A70 though, so some of that carries over. Same resolution, and perhaps similar modulation. The thing with the display model of the 720 unit, was not that it was uncomfortable, it wasn't, it just seemed.. not very bright or with a white colour balance.. it was lacklustre. You could see pixelation on the edges of text, which means ebook use wouldn't be as nice, and definitely manga would be worse. I still have a dead battery HTC One M8 in a drawer and still might resuscitate it for puttering around.. it has a 1920x1080 LCD display in a 5.0" size.. good PPI resolution.

I will wait and see what the TCL 60 Ultra backlight measurements look like.

Sunspark The Stylus even with flicker prevention on has considerably more modulation than the G 2025. About 5X more. G 2025 has real DC dimming. Stylus has a refresh dip as is the norm with the best pOLED phone displays.

Here's a good G 2025 review:

Great phone. Wish flagship phones are like this.

Highlights:

Real flicker free at all brightness levels (measured with oscilloscope)

Convenient side fingerprint

Decent photo quality with sufficient lighting

3.5mm headphone jack

Gave up on flagship phones because all of them use low frequency+deep modulation PWM displays. This LCD phone is really easy on my eyes.

This cheap phone is surprisingly smooth and responsive for daily use; However it does get a bit laggy in Google Maps and after fresh reboots.

Side fingerprint sensor is magnitudes more convenient to those in-display fingerprint sensors. With it you can easily unlock your phone before it leaves your pocket.

Photo quality is also surprisingly good when there's sufficient lighting. Scans document fine. ofc photo is crappy at backlight and night - This is expected for phones at this price

Battery lasts reasonably long.

It does cheap out on lots of subtle points, like 1x1 WiFi antenna, usb2.0, but overall still great phone.
I wish flagship phones are simply premium versions of this phone, instead of painful flagships with eyeball-killing screens, sluggish in-display fingerprint sensors, and deliberately removed headphone jacks.

Therefore, based on reviews like those two above, I think one is silly dismissing the Moto G 2025 due to low specs if indeed eye and brain comfort are serious concerns. Yes, there are other PWM-free LCD displays, but are they as kind to the eyes and brain as the G 2025? That's questionable. We do know the G 2025 is an excellent display when superior comfort is a top priority. Just interests me that even on communities like this, obsessing about eye strain, it is common to be overly dismissive of real-world solutions. Look, nothing in this world is perfect. There are pros and cons to everything. If eye strain seriously affects you, the cons of the G 2025 aren't significant.

Regarding that, I used side by side a phone with a side fingerprint sensor and one with an on-screen sensor. Once getting used to both of them, I couldn't say which I preferred. Therefore, I strongly disagree the side sensor is "magnitudes more convenient." The screen-based sensor on the Moto Edge worked very well for me once I got the hang of it.

I do like a headphone jack, however, and I don't buy any of the excuses espoused for removing that port. My belief is the removal is about dictating to the public they should not be using wired headsets. Yes, there are countless adapter dongles to assuage criticism while this change is fully rolled out, but it is clear to me these companies have gotten orders from above to discourage wired headsets.

For those like me who use a wired headset every single day, headphone jack removal is nothing but a negative. I need a headset both for my phone calls and for listening to audio, and I'm not interested in wireless products for those purposes.

Another benefit of the side sensor now that I think of it is if you ever replace the phone's screen. Many times the sensor won't work after the screen is replaced. On the side, it will remain as before.

A final thought to add is that people sometimes complain about the IR light on Moto products constantly going on and off. You can see it with a camera. However, they ignore all the other frequencies the phones put out. My belief is there no reason the IR light would cause eye strain or headache issues while the many other frequencies phones emit would be totally benign. Bottom line, smartphones are harmful products that should be used responsibly. Heavy users unquestionably damage their bodies unless they are rather young and are able to promptly and continually repair the damages through deep sleeps.

K-Moss Also a big fan of wired headphones, I have 3 pairs of quality headphones that I still use and it's a pain to have to use a usb adapter for the 3.5mm cable, didn't even realize the moto 2025 g power I got has an actually 3.5mm jack, but I see the case I have doesn't allow me to put my headphones in as it only accept very skinny connectors into the case 😐. Probably $1 headphones would plugin just fine, but quality ones have thicker jacks usually.

I just got the Moto G 2025 power version, it has more memory and a bigger screen than the one without power in the name. Got it used in like new condition so was cheaper to buy. I've seen complaints about these phones being slow, but I really don't notice much difference speed in most cases compared to my pixel 9a unless it's phone startup time, or like fancy games which I generally don't play so doesn't matter to me. Not feeling instantly overwhelmed when looking at it like I did on the pixel 9a and should be able to sell it for more than I purchased this which is nice.

radfaraf While out I was just thinking that one of the major benefits of the G 2025 is the headphone jack. A jack is far superior to either wireless or using a dongle. It's a major quality of life improvement for those like me who enjoy wired headphones + mic with a smartphone. The 3.5 mm circular port works beautifully.

I'm also disturbed by the lies and gaslight of removing the jack. The major companies did not remove the jack for wireless sales. Motorola, Google, Samsung are not cashing in on wireless sales. Sony is a major producer of wireless headphones and yet includes the jack. To take away an important quality of life feature while lying to the public about why you are doing so is not something I can stand behind.

Also why I was so against the Covid drama, including the mRNA injections. The public was lied to and betrayed in multiple ways, and it was tough work trying to get through to loved ones. That said, the realities of the event and agenda help more ordinary people appreciate a less Pollyanna view of the world system we were born to. The wireless sales conspiracy theory is an example of that. So is removing the jack to create more space and for improved waterproofing.

RE: the case, not sure what you mean. The G 2025 will accept any normal wired headphones. You mean a phone case to protect the device? In that case simply avoid using a case at least when you want to use your headphones. Cases suffocate phones and can lead to impaired performance from thermal throttling and faster battery degradation from impaired heat dissipation. Also is nicer holding the actual phone without any kind of plastic or PU casing. The caseless G phone will fit nicely in one of your pockets while you are listening and/or talking on your wired headset. In my opinion one looks smarter with a headphone wire than with wireless emitters next to their brain and eyes. It shows more wisdom and independence.

radfaraf Also, did you find using the USB adapter was draining much more battery life than a headphone jack? They drain power even when just plugged in, when no sound is going through. With the G with headphone jacks, the onboard sound processor just turns off the port when no sound is being pumped.

K-Moss Just the case I have won't accept the plastic around the 3.5mm jack on the headphones unless it's super skinny in that area, normally only super cheap headphones are that skinny. They clearly didn't think through various sizes of the jack area that holds the 3.5mm jack. Will indeed probably have to just remove the case.

radfaraf Yes, either remove the case, find one that easily goes on and off, or else find one that doesn't disturb the jack. However, the G series is affordable, and one should be able to use it without a case without any stress as long as they are reasonably careful. When I took my old phone out of the rugged case I was impressed by how much nicer it was to use without that rugged plastic over it.

Now that I think of it, probably a wallet case will work well for your G Power. Pretty sure that will not impair the jack. They are easily available for about $10.

Now I'm not saying these OLED phones are deliberately messing with people, but it is a legitimate possibility the subconscious flicker has a malevolent benefit for the overlords. Possibly this is partly why 90% of Americans were duped into lining up for the mRNA injections. Otherwise, why are the major US manufacturers - Apple, Google, Samsung - not offering IPS LCD screens on any units? IPS LCD phones can look and perform wonderfully, with excellent image stability and superior eye and brain comfort. This is well known.

Let me quote you some more anecdotal testimony I just received.

"You can't use any OLED? How can 5 seconds with OLED give you severe symptoms?"

He said:

"Yes. That's exactly what's happening. It's crazy. However my moto g55 is a life saver. Thanks for recommending it."

There are too many anecdotes of these OLED screens damaging people and finding relief and improvement with IPS LCD.

Another told me he needed a full month break from any smartphone after an OLED phone inflamed his retinas.

Another: "I have had the same problem too! Redmi Xiaomi is the worst kind , makes you blurry vision in seconds and swollen eyes like crystal balls."

"I use iphone 12 and I have been suffering a lot with this issue but i never knew something like PWM flickering was the issue until i came to know about this. I used to convince myself it’s all psychological. Really this is a big scam. We need to spread this as soon as possible."

This is a big negative vs the Moto G models. I use my headphone jack very frequently as an essential feature. I will go and complain to TCL and see what they say.

I guess one could have a Moto G as their primary unit for the headphone jack and then a second NXTPAPER 60 as a secondary unit exclusively for wireless use, but the screens on the G are comfortable enough that I don't deem that necessary. Messing with dongles or wireless headsets is too big a negative for a primary cellular device.

Depends on your priorities too. Many people use BT headsets and don't at all mind doing so whereas I'm the kind of person where I would only want to use a BT headset for short intervals, not every single day for all my calls, music, podcasts, audio streams, YouTube. Putting wireless emitters next to the eyes isn't good for them:

I bought an EMF reader to see if corded was safer than the wireless. What I found is shocking... because they removed the audio only jack, you must plug into the power. This turning your whole headphone and its cord into an amplifier and the Emf is not only much stronger but every part of the cord is producing the EMF. I tried 3 brands and anything using the power jack will do this to you.

So without a headphone jack one is damned either way. Therefore, a smartphone without a dedicated headphone jack just can't compete against one with one. The jack is too important, and having to make do without one is a sharp downgrade for this essential feature.
