If Temporal dithering is a display technique where pixels rapidly switch between colors to simulate intermediate shades and achieve a wider color depth than the display panel can natively support. Then if we buy a true 10 bit monitor , like Dell P27250E, can we solve this problem?

tck175 Some devices will dither still but you can try. Eizo told me all their coloredge monitors are true 10 bit not 8+frc btw. cs2740 is one that comes to mind that someone else uses on this forum.

Supposedly the dell up2720q is also true 10 according to a dell brochure.

Its more complicated. Monitors use 10/12bit upconvert and smoothing ( dithering ) to send bit depth panel need. Gaming monitors use more agressive smoothing

jordan This forum did not prove that Eizo fully solved a problem for anyone. Quite the oppositve, it shone the light on the fact that there are more factors at play that cause eye strain.

I had a lenovo laptop that was OLED with 100% DCIP-3 and it dithered anyways so I returned it

simplex hi , i don’t know why I feel eyestrain and headaches when using back windows 10 but the windows is newly installed. I even tried to install windows 7 again , I still feel eyestrain and headaches. So the problem is newly installed windows , no matter windows 7 or windows 10.

I am thinking some default settings that can’t be changed when windows are newly installed. What display setting can be changed before the Windows’s installation? Many thanks ! I am desperately looking for solution.

Donux Not doubting that! I agree with you. Just stating true 10 bit is all.

Please keep in mind that GPUs don't hard limit at 10 bit color. If you buy a true 10 bit monitor, it is possible there could still be temporal dithering used to simulate 12 bit or higher. I would like to try a true 10 bit monitor, but I just don't have the funds to do so at the moment.
