Sharing this because this "flicker-free" monitor by Asus received this critical review:

I purchased this monitor because it was marketed as certified flicker-free and I happen to be highly sensitive to flicker (the kind most people don't "see" but instead experience as eye strain, headaches etc). Long story short - this monitor flickers at exactly 60hz, the effect of which is instant brain scramble when looking at the screen. It took me couple of months of being stupid and dealing with headaches until I figured out that it was the monitor causing the issue. After reverting to my old HP2509, my days became much happier.
As to the details - I am not sure if there is a hole in the certification process or if there is something wrong with the monitor, but something is definitely amiss. Uprtek Flicker Meter measurements of the monitor show very good flicker metrics (almost entirely flicker free), and the emitted lightwave appears completely flat (representing no variation in light output and thus no flicker). Still, the meter picks up the flicker frequency of exactly 60hz, and the lightwave shows this as abrupt dropoff (strobing in essence) timed at 16.67ms; the dropoff is very short in duration which barely makes it register on the meter, but it is there. The net effect of this is that this fancy "certified flicker free" "eye care" monitor flickers more and produces more eye strain than my ten year old flourescent-lit LCD monitor. It is hard to call that anything other than a fail.

K-Moss There is a lot of context information missing. Soecificylly how test was performed. Was it without computer plugged in, or with pluggined it. Then what specific machine plugged it, etc. Flicker at refresh rate is something we have came accross multiple times, but to my understanding now all panels have PSR (panel self refresh), so it is unlikely panel would be constantly refreshing. All in all, interesting finding, but more data is needed about the test context. It is easy to shift a blame on product that is at the end of the chain.
