TCL 24G54 Mini-LED vs Alienware AW2310 CCFL

I’m looking to get a new monitor and I’m deciding between the TCL 24G54 Mini-LED and the Alienware AW2310 CCFL. I don’t own either yet, and image quality isn’t my priority.

I often experience eye strain, eye prickling, and headaches, even though I wear blue light filter glasses.

From what I understand, the TCL 24G54 has Mini-LED with local dimming, flicker-free tech, and low blue light features, while the AW2310 uses CCFL backlight.

Considering eye comfort at low brightness, which one would be better for someone with sensitive eyes?

erwintol1999 Any LED monitor with low blue light features still emit a lot of blue light. I would go for CCFL.

I'd also be concerned if the CCFL monitor in question has had the tubes degrade (it's with a finite lifespan), has PWM (can still be an issue, especially of latter models) and/or dithering. I don't think CCFLs monitors have been manufactured in over 10 years at this point and past reviewers were less diligent about checking for such issues.

JTL Well old tubes means not as bright and if you crank them up all the way the pwm goes away. I just think the CCFL is the lesser evil compared to LED. Miripump wrote something here very interesting about CCFL and LED. I know they are old but I mean if they work and less damaging to the eyes I say its worth it (atleast to me). Miripump said he has a stockpile of the aw2310.

erwintol1999 I would assume because it works very well for him and that its not something you can buy new anymore so he probably buys all the used ones he finds.

I also have the AW2310. It’s great, but I think how long can it last another ten years? I’m also going to buy more of it for the right price.
