Unfortunately I don't have the Dasung anymore, but might end up buying one in near feature just for testing :S
I got it from Amazon and returned it.
This Chromebook book is usable on the internal and external monitor, however on the internal monitor after few hours I get more of CVS symptoms. This is 200$ laptop with bad quality monitor, the 60Hz flashing is visible. Also it's 11inch compared to the 24 external one. They both have more glow on the edges, but due the small screen the internal ones is more likely to bother. I tested Win10 and Mac laptops on the external monitor and they are unusable, the external TN feels same as these laptops internal glossy monitors. So definitely my problem is software related, but even with good software after all 6 years of daily issues looks I have grown some sensitivity to glow and glare. They don't bother me if I'm not using screen and they did not bother me in the beginning when my issues started, I can't really tell after how many years these environmental things started to bother me tho.
With this chromebook, I get the graphic looks from 10y ago out of the box, no tuning needed. No dithering. No font aliasing (probably just grayscale), sharp font edges, pixels are visible.
I ended up getting the Dasung and the chromebook in the same week. The Dasung has it's own type of issues that I had replied in another thread. I liked the chromebook soo much more, that when plugged both side by side I did not even end up using the Dasung. I was just using it when I had to use the Mac. So I do think I could survive whole day with the Dasung in the office, but it would not be like reading a book, I would still get light fatigue due the reflection of it's screen under the bright office lights.
Other interesting thing was that all these years I was primary suffering from the "font aliasing". I couldn't focus, trying hard and my eyes were burning, I was not getting any strain. As soon I disabled aliasing, my Mac became much more tolerable, but still there are issues, so I suspect that's the dithering.
My original problem started Nov 2012 with Nvidia Quadro 4200 and CCFL Dell. Around that year I switched from XP to Win7, so looking in retrospect I suspect over period of couple months I built intolerance to the Crystal fonts or the Aero and after the tipping point I wasn't able to tolerate any screen since then.
I have this chromebook for last 2 months and I don't have burning eyes any more. At this point I just get straining eyes, more of CVS symptom which is caused due the environment.
Since I discovered this I just tunnel to the Mac for work, I haven't used the Mac for more than couple minutes, so I can't really tell now without the aliasing on it will I get burn or strain, I don't want even to test!
Disabled anti-aliasing on retina did not do anything, but after switching to non retina resolution (non HDPI) I could feel less discomfort.
Increasing scale in resolutions also gives me those flipping eyes feels.
So my theory why iPhones bother me is the high DPI/retina + unknown (dithering?). I don't get strain from them as I can't use them for more than few seconds, I get eye flip and burning.
I do think flicker bothers me but that's not my primary problem, that's more of CVS after few hours, short term flicker does not bother me and I still can't use screen. Example when not using screens I'm fine, neither LED neither reflection bothers me. Christmas lights and car tail lights are not a problem either. I don't don't have migraines. Outside of screen focus, I'm young, healthy and fit. I've been to 4 optometrists and 4 ophthalmologist in the Bay Area and they couldn't find anything.
