andc Might be that tinittus might influence in some way? Probably not.
You have to check if the white in your microscope. Maybe there is flickering of some kind, inversion, or whatever.
But i am also sensitive to brightness in displays, but not outside. Well of course if there is some reflection (polarized light) i will might have discomfort, but not outside with sun. The light of sun feels good to my eyes, not looking directly of course 🙂.
But yes, brightness on this displays is a major factor, for sure. Sometimes i see people with theirs smartphones with really bright displays, and i wonder how is it possible to look at them without any kind of pain.
But maybe we need some osciloscope that can read really high frequencies.
Some months ago, i was watching the surface book 2, on stores, and after a while the eyes started to strain. So Surfaces displays are a non-go to me.
