  • Did windows 8.1 update change eye strain? Looking for recent trigger

Hi all, I've been dealing with optic nerve migraines a few years now that were partially caused by mold exposure here in Netherlands. I've since moved and the eye attacks are much less. Recently I tried to use a Apple mini - I had to sell it almost immediately after I tried to use it. That was a month o two ago and my eyes have been better. Recently I had some more attacks and wonder if there was a windows update that may have caused it, or if it was caused from the many cell phones that people use on the trains and buses (I was traveling a great deal the last weeks). I use a older Lenovo with windows 8.1 that is doing auto updates (So it is possibly a update is the cause)

If you can link to any threads for low eye strain laptops, software or OS, I would appreciate it!

Has anyone tried to get the ECJ to force these companies to examine their products? With so many kids and babes looking at screens, it seems very irresponsible to not fix this. (I am affected directly, so you can see why I care!)
Thanks
Socrates

OS updates can certainly change things that trigger. You should absolutely disable auto update on any computers you have and keep backups of application versions you know do no cause you issues so you can restore them if needed in the future.

Android is the worst culprit for me, I know people have had problems with Windows 10 versions. I use Win7 myself and will not be upgrading because of this. When support ends I will be switching to a Linux distro I know does not cause me issues and run an off network Windows 7 VM for Windows apps I need to keep using.

Be aware that some relatively recent Chrome and Firefox browser updates on Windows have been causing disturbances to many users here, myself included, on what are known good hardware and software configurations.

AgentX20 I find that the LATEST chrome and firefox are much better. In fact I use the latest chrome at work without too many issues. I still think that the older ones were better but it's not the instant pain I was experiencing previously.

Gurm Thanks, I'll have a look as there's just been a big security flaw found in Chrome and it needs an update...
