Ok so an update on the NUC8i7+Dell 2419H.
I am getting symptoms with this machine, I took a day away from it yesterday using good devices and didn’t get a headache or nausea.
I’m not getting Instant issues e.g eyes feeling tight after 10 minutes, for the most part it doesn’t feel like eye strain, after the 30min-1hr mark I did start to feel slightly ‘unsteady’ but the symptoms are more neurological rather than ‘this is killing my eyes - kryptonite!’ like Mac dithering. I used it exclusively on Thursday for at least 6 hours and felt almost comatose by the end of the day, my eyes weren’t blinking as much and my head felt weird. I did get a headache in between the eyes in the evening too. Also I had more trouble getting to sleep.
Obviously this could be the monitor or machine to blame (probably a bit of both) but it’s a certified flicker free monitor and low blue light, you can’t really get a more comfortable monitor than this nowadays.
I will try out earlier W10 builds and try standard Win drivers, also running it through a CCFL to see if that helps.
Regardless of the results, I put my money where my mouth is and bought this setup purely because I believe it closely resembles the modern office. The dell is a monitor that’s designed for long periods of use and I’m sure the NUC is used in corporate environments due to the form factor and ease of maintenance.
So who do I take to court? I clearly can’t use any new tech. I’ve systematically tried Nvidia/AMD/Intel GFX and latest Windows 10 and Linux/AppleOS. All of them induce symptoms and no modern workplace will use a 15xx build or Windows 7 anymore.
