So I've been reading a few of the threads here about the dithering on MacOS, and I think that's the most likely culprit for my issues. Just to give some context, I have issues with:
-iPhone X/XS/Pro (OLED PWM Flickering)
-iPhone XR/11 (Eyes feel watery and dry after light usage)
-iPad Pro 2018 (Same as XR)
-MacBook 16" 2019 (Eyes feel watery and dry after light usage, may be same case as XR)
Also, I have no issues with:
-iPhone 8+ and earlier
-MacBook 13" Early 2015
-Entry Level iPad 2018/2019
-Nearly every other LCD screen (TV, other computers, etc
Considering my situation, I feel comfortable in assuming that I just am susceptible to flickering as a whole (PWM or dithering) and I should just avoid newer Macbooks/iMacs altogether. I was thinking that a mini with an external display might be the best choice, but I had a few questions:
Has anyone with dithering/PWM sensitivity tried a Mac Mini 2018? If so, are you able to use it without eye strain?
Does the external display matter at all in terms of alleviating dithering strain? Or is it just completely tied to the Mini?
I see that there's a program for windows that removes dithering, is there any chance that something like that might be created for MacOS? I've looked around quite a bit online, but unfortunately haven't really seen any solutions or workarounds.
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences đ
