languidicity That's fair, I oversimplified. In the end, each of us ends up with a setup that works for them, and it's usually completely unique (or close to it), given how many variables are in play – as you mentioned, and I completely agree. So instead of just two sides, it feels more like there are as many "camps" as there are users here.
That said, even with all the subjectivity and bias, some patterns seem to show up – certain tech, panels, OSs, or GPUs tend to work better for more people. But even that is tricky. Often the "working setups" involve older hardware, software, or drivers – though what counts as "old" depends on your perspective.
Personally, I got stuck on tech from around 10 years ago. To someone using the latest gear, my setup probably looks ancient. Meanwhile, their equipment seems new and polished to me – like they’ve got it easy. But of course, they often don’t feel that way at all. They’re just battling a different set of issues.
E-ink is also a good example – it seems to work well for most people who try it, at least based on posts here. Still anecdotal, but the positive pattern is there. On the other hand, OLED gets tested by far more people, across a wide range of devices, Android versions, and firmware. Naturally, the feedback is all over the place. OLED’s a hard one to pin down.
Even with all this mess, we want to move forward – and it’s all we’ve got. And honestly, these kinds of reports have been hugely helpful for me. They're the reason I’m still able to work and keep finding setups that either work or at least partially do.
Appreciate you pointing out the oversimplification, by the way!
