  • Digital Artist searching for a solution to draw on a screen!

LED Backlight and something else We still dont know is killing productivity of any creative, from designer to artist, from videoeditor to photographer.

I have tried so many devices, for drawing purpose, that I've lost the count.
Ipad's, Cintiq's, Chinese Tablets, Monitors, Laptops, Smartphones and many other devices...
I would like to keep drawing digitally because it is my life!
The only way I can do it for 30/40 minute and still getting hard headhace and eyestrain, dizziness, it is with an Ipad Pro or a LED Backlight monitor (wled) with DC dimming (still didnt tried anything with CCFL Backlight) + Wacom Intuos Tablet.

I do wear Zeiss Duravision Blueprotect Glasses and they help a bit, but my problem is different. Any light disturb me. And they are all LED.

I think that also having an higher refresh rate like 240hz and more would help with motion!

Whats your advice guys? I would like to start with buying a monitor, I was looking for a CCFL, DC Dimmed, 8 BIT (no FRC), HIGH Refresh Rate, Monitor to draw with my intuos tablet. Where could i start?

I found out a Dell 2209wa to be CCFL 6 u-lamp direct backlighting, it is a 8bit, E-IPS. Specs Sheet Below

My first piece of advice is to determine if you are sensitive to polarised light. Try out some polarised sunglasses, and see if they cause you pain or discomfort. If they do, that will limit your display options a lot, but also make it a lot easier to find a usable solution.

Seagull I have it and I have yet tried. They dont cause me pain at all? Instead I love how they block any harsh light in sunlight
Do i Have to watch my display when I do wear them for the test or the test meant just to look anywhere? If the last one, they are ok for me

Seagull Can one get polarized glasses which are not sunglasses? I was never offered by an optician or an ophthalmologist to try a pair. Thanks.

Hisense makes a LCD tablet that is greyscale and doesn't use a backlight but rather reflected light. It's an option to consider.

Its just a test to see if you are sensitive to polarised light. If you are it will make using LCDs difficult, but given that you aren't it isn't something to worry about.

lillo9546 There is a color e-ink tablet but in color mode it only displays at 100 PPI and low bit depth (4096 colors). I get the feeling you're looking for hidpi and 32 bit depth.

What operating system are you using on your daily driver?
