Hi all,

I think it makes sense to change the backround to black. It's kinda ironic having eye strain on a site that you're trying to find answer to your eye strain 😃....

You can use night eye extension. Works great.

I think Flarum does support a dark mode but it's not enabled for the forum (ironically enough)

@Slacor If it supports custom CSS I might throw my hat in the ring

I run a Flarum forum actually - there is a 'Dark Mode' switch in the Appearance tab of the administrator area, although it would be nice to give people a choice I suppose?

@Slacor - there are a couple of other extensions I thought would be very useful for this forum if possible:

      • FoF / Follow Tags - this allows users to follow tags and receive email notifications, such as getting an email update as soon as a new discussion about Temporal Dithering is posted for example
      • FoF / User Bio - I think each user should be encouraged to add a bio with their specific issues (dithering / PWM) and their current usable setup. When reading a discussion often posts are only relevant if you have the same core issue as someone else so it would be great to be able to quickly check a user's bio.

I would personally like to see private messaging back but presumably there was a reason for stopping it. I use Byobu on my site.

Great work on creating a brilliant forum.

Bugs in the extension. If it's really wanted I have some ideas.

Currently the solution is to use a browser extension to provide a dark theme like tfouto mentions.
The reasoning for this is to allow choice and start with a "sane" default. But I'd be happy to include instructions for methods to change it into a more tolerant way of viewing it.
        There's also this.

Certainly, I can check that out

Flarum bios have been flaky in my experience with them, as they were not especially great, then were removed and alternate available plugins didn't seem to be much better. I'll look into it however. The one you linked to I believe simply brings the removed one back.

There was. I'm always welcome to requests, but it's unlikely I'm going to change the current private messaging setup without good cause.
https://chat.ledstrain.org is currently in managed hosting with zulipchat and separate from this forum. This is important when there are issues with the forum itself. Inability to sign up or login, the forum failing to render for example, are times where the ability to communicate is needed but not necessarily possible with the forum.
And of course, if a upgrade breaks things and is down for a extended time, there is somewhere to go to ask questions.

          I've added the following plugins:

          • FoF / Follow Tags
You can see them when you go to a tag and there is a new follow

          • Night Mode
Click on your username in the top right

          • User Bio
Highlight over any username in a post. If you had a bio entered from the old bio, it should still be there.

          Edit:
I disabled the night mode for now. It seems to default to dark mode when not logged in.
It'll need to be opt-in before I can leave it enabled. The developers seem to be aware of this, so it'll likely be available in the next update 👍
