  • Red light to improve eye health article

A few articles have come out in the past week, all reporting from the same source, that a red light flashlight has been shown to help vision in some people. Interesting read, and I haven't tried it since I would want to know more information like what power level, spectra position in nanometers, pulsed vs steady beam etc.

I was wondering if that somehow relates to what @yeutterg was saying in posts of a few months ago.

Even then, some still claim to get pain with very good LED sources, which may apply to you. We don't know why this is. Some suspect the lack of IR, but it hasn't been studied enough yet to say definitively.

Take a look at the research of Alexander Wunsch. A number of people in the pro-incandescent community are advocates for his work.

There are tons of products on the market. The range is 660-670nm. It's promoted for all kinds of therapy. Basically the theory is that it boosts mitochondrial repair and power, reverses aging, etc.

Study participants over 40 saw dramatic (> 20%) improvement in color differentiation, and even bigger improvements in low light discrimination.

I'm keenly interested in this, need to figure out what intensity is safe for viewing, or else find a white wall to bounce a higher-powered light off of.

Been a few years since this was last discussed, has anyone had any experience with this type of therapy?

I've found a few recent articles discussing it, but it seems like there still isn't any sort of real consensus on if this works.

A side point. Using Red tinted Ra optics blue light glasses massively helps. I can actually use pretty much any screen with them on with 0 issues.

What kind of devices do you usually have issues with? (When not using those lenses)

And would you mind linking the Ra optics lenses that you’ve had success with?

Thanks for the link, I'm definitely going to look into these further. Do you mind giving a little more info on how they help? As in, do they completely remove all symptoms?
