Struggling to find a new monitor that doesn't cause pain
Quad43 Anyone know why 2717d would be problematic when Dell 24XX are great?
The Dell 24XX monitors have a CCFL backlight, rather than an LED backlight. For many folks this is easier on the eyes. For example, although they have PWM to control brightness at around 60% brightness and lower, the CCFL light source dims slower than an LED (which is abruptly on-off) so makes for a smoother effect on your eyes.
Thanks, maybe I rid of my 2717d then as I get pain only above my left eye(brow). With slow-mo I don't see any PWM or anything. Maybe 24xx is just one I stick to.

Personally I just found something interesting about new monitors; business monitors work for me, even new ones, just like business notebooks.
At my workplace we have HP business notebooks, older ones and brand new ones as well and i don't have any problems with them. I was also buying for myself a small HP 840 G3 for general use and it just works as I expected.
Business displays as mentioned are also ok and at my workplace we have Samsungs, HPs and Dells. Even ordered some time ago a new Dell UP3017 at work, I was literally afraid to begin to work on it, but then it turned out absolutely problem-free.
For me personally, the business line remained the way to go in private life too.
Hope this helps someone too!
PS.: afaik, the business displays have the 16:10 aspect ratio
