Yes, I was hoping that there would be something different about the M1 macs now that intel drivers are not a part of the graphics equation. Unfortunately, still have the same issue.
I had the same eye strain with 16" macbook pro, recent 13" macbook pro, 2020 macbook air, recent 15" macbook pros.
Did not have eye strain with 2019 macbook air, and my old 2015 macbook pro 13. My thought is it's an issue with dithering used to achieve the p3 color gamut. Both of these use full srgb but not p3 displays.
Do not get eyestrain with any of the recent LCD iphones..

I have been using it 10+ hrs per day for 4th day in a row and no eye strain.
