When I use my computer I get a weird eye strain feeling and it always feels like I cannot focus on the desktop. If I continue to use the PC it leads to a sudden onset of what feels like a migraine feeling. I have to get off the PC immediately and just lay down and sleep it off. If I use the PC until the migraine symptom happens my eyes will feel sensitive to screens for weeks. I must mention that I’m using current version of windows 10 and I have a EVGA 980ti graphics card using DisplayPort to a pwm-free monitor. My eye doctor says my eyes are healthy. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks friends.

Same symptoms like mine. Try to find some old laptops and check. You have to find perfect combination of hardware, os and softwares. You need to try lots of combinations and come up with the setup works for you. For starters try to find very old system and test your eyes.

Once you found it, keep it safe. Turn off all software updates. Create system restore point on that place. After that any software installation even for personal use, create a restore point before doing it. you should have options to go back whenever you got the eye strain back.

For office system, ask your system administrator/IT dept to provide remote access to the system and access it from your personal system as remote access. That way your screen, hardware and graphics drivers will be a good one but core PC will be that of your office one.

Does you have the same issues when you cover one eye?

bz12 Did you use the monitor before with something else other than this new PC without trouble, or is both the PC and monitor new? You need to find out if it's the PC or the monitor that's causing the trouble.

I haven’t tried that. But I have heard of the binocular vision dysfunction and if that was the case would it happen while watching tv as well?

I don’t really wanna take the time to do all that because it will trigger my symptoms before I find a solution, unfortunately.

The symptoms appeared before the new monitor. I built the pc in 2015 and the first couple years I can’t recall any problems and then occasionally I would get that migraine feeling. Now I just don’t even have a desire to get on my pc because of this. Only thing I remember doing from the initial 2 years that it was fine to when I started getting symptoms was I went from hdmi to DisplayPort and of course the windows updates.

I wouldn't be surprised if it started when you updated to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (Build 1607).

Would you have a recommended build I should try?

There is a version of WIndows 10, 2015 LTSB, which is based on build 1507. It still gets security updates. But it's showing its age in other places. A lot of software which claims to run on Windows 10 only runs on certain builds and higher.
