Thankfully, I made it out of the store in one piece, narrowly escaping any harassment from the employees 🤣
Going back to the Honor 90 lite, unfortunately the screenshots weren't able to capture the eye comfort mode (activated).
The display is calibrated differently from the x8a but both look identical (dimensions/size/display). 90 lite is less vivid & more soft, but not as bright. Web text was being displayed in an altered font, which was easier to read. It's not the same font as on the x8a/70lite/magic4 lite, or realme/nokia/one plus/xiaomi phones.
Battery life reduced 18%, from the start/finish of me playing around with the phone (around 30 mins) :/
I couldn't test the sound volume through the port as I had no usb c headphones on me, but the volume from the speaker is mediocre, even with the extra volume mode.
Not sure what to fully make of the display. I did not notice any immediate discomfort or strain as I did with the G73/Nord 3 lite.
I didn't feel any PWM. But reading web text wasn't entirely comfortable, as the external lighting in the store was very very very bright and harsh, and caused a lot of glare and reflections.
The display does look amoled like, and it really pops on higher brightness setting. Lowered brightness felt decent & the eye comfort mode is quite effective (strong yellow tint).
The ui felt very fluid & the screen touch response was good. Honor's android 13 is not much different from android 11/12 in the magic4 lite/x8a. But there is now an option to change text boldness in settings.
The display seemed to be good at 60hz & nicely calibrated. It's definitely better than the g73 & nord 3 lite, and A LOT better than the honor magic 5 pro that was right beside it in the store.
The honor magic 5 pro display looks extremely beautiful from a distance, but up close & used for a few minutes, pwm symptoms developed, especially when reducing brightness to 50% & under. It did not feel good at all.
90 lite might work well with a matte screen protector. I'll be keeping a closer eye on any reviews to confirm if it is 100% pwm free. But overall, my experience with the display was generally positive.
