I calibrated the eye tracking yes.
Covering one eye does not help with my symptoms, I tried it some time ago.

This looks like a nice headset!
It has a dial to adjust the pupillary distance between your eyes.
Specs seem good too..
"The PS VR2 has dual OLED panel with a 4K display resolution and 90Hz/120Hz frame rate. Each display has a resolution of 2,000 x 2,040 pixels. The display also supports HDR.
The headset uses fresnel lenses. These lenses "act on microscopic level to significantly reduce ghosting" and "allow for a beautiful image without sacrificing brightness"."
Maybe the fresnel lens helps you? Maybe it's the dual panels instead of one panel? I.e. you aren't forced to focus both eyes on a single point as each receives their own panel.
I'm not going to buy a PS5 to try this, but it looks like a fun headset.
I think it's all about the Backlighting of the device. Most ( 90 % ) of monitors nowadays use LED backlighting which i think is the main source of our eye/neck/muscles pain. Maybe PSVR2 uses some different backlighting to " iluminate" the image you get. Interesting
PSVR2 uses OLED, so it does not have backlighting. I had an LG OLED TV for a month to test and it caused me horrible eyestrain so I was kind of expecting the same with PSVR2. I am just so excited about VR technology that I couldn't resist buying it and was preparing for the worst. And yeah, I can use it without any eyestrain at all. I probably played for 5 hours in total yesterday and my eyes feel completely fine!
I guess if all my CCFL monitors break down I would still be able to use a PSVR2 for work
I think as covering the other eye works for most people, me including, so if there are 2 displays, each having their own, then it's like covering the other eye.
I have also been thinking about this, if the eyestrain would be avoided with having a VR headset with dual screens.
I would be highly interested in this, to really understand if this is the case.
eyepainsilverberry Can you use the PSVR2 today on your regular PC?
Sunspark Unfortunately not, it's PlayStation exclusive.
I'm glad to read this as I really want to try VR, but have been afraid of buying one due to the OLED panels. I don't know what Sony could be utilizing to help with this, but I hope it works for me. I will likely order one and see how I feel.
eyepainsilverberry , any idea if they screen is HDR or not? I'm still in the dark as to wether OLED panels are generally 8 bit or true 10 bit.
Clokwork The screens are supposed to be HDR, but they are not as bright as HDR on a regular TV. I guess because they are just tiny screens and they can't produce that much light.
eyepainsilverberry thanks for sharing this. Have your tried cinematic mode to watch movies or tv or to play regular PS5 games? Just wondering if it makes any difference in terms of eye comforts.
FNP7 I did yeah and it works quite well. The image quality is a bit grainy because of the lense technology, and it's a bit blurry on the sides but the large picture will definitely draw you in. Still, comfort depends on how your head is shaped and I definitely can't see myself wearing it for more than 1 hour at a time, after that I usually take a 5 minute break to let my head cool down.
I'm curious about something, because of where my hearing implant's receiver is located, I can't have a low-sitting band or strap on the head. I'm curious to know how adjustable and how high the strap can be positioned to sit on one's head.
Sunspark The back of the headset sits fairly low, and the front is quite high up. It all depends on your head shape though but it does not cover your ears too much.
This picture is perfect, thanks for sharing it! It tells me everything I need to know. It means I couldn't use this because the strap passes right over where the receiver is. I was hoping it could go across the head on a level plane, but I guess not for this iteration.
The only exception would be if there was a lot of clearance.. looks like there is some there. How far away from the surface of the skin would you say it is? It looks like it is at least as wide as the outside of your ear. Is it even wider than that?
Sunspark I would say it's about 1.5-2cm or so for me, really hard to measure without a helping hand so don't take this as a precise measurement
So glad to hear this. I tried the PSVR1 in a VR experience room once. The experience was horrible in the driving game I played. I don't know if it was the motion or if it was the disgustingly low graphics or what, but I was literally about to throw up. Had to sit down for a few minutes and had my friends buy me some juice to make me feel well enough again to get out of the place.
