Hi,

I will not write here about the history of my illness, because it is similar to every one I read about here. I met quite a few ophthalmologists, a neurologist, optometrists and various other charlatans - I even tried Chinese medicine. Nothing helps. But to the point: For years, like most of you, I blamed monitors for eye pain until I thought of trying a projector. And to my great surprise - the image on the projector also strains my eyes ... I recommend everyone to try the projector and see for yourself, but in my case it seems that the main factor is the contrast (oddly enough, my eyes hurt more than white letters on a black background than vice versa) and ... imperfections of movement in the displayed image. The more things move, the faster the pain comes and seems worse to bear. Do any of you have similar observations?

I never had issues with projectors at work. In fact, I enjoyed them quite a lot. Do you use one the whole day for work or just to watch movies? Any chance your eyes are in a bad shape because of other triggers and you blame the eyestrain on the projector?

Of course I did, I had a lot of eye tests done, and an MRI. And the only thing that came out for me in these tests was a slight astigmatism

Currently there is no display I can use without pain. I bought the projector as a replacement for the monitor, which theoretically should not negatively affect the eyes.

Interestingly, when I went to the office (I currently working at HO), the pain in the eyes at work did not occur, or was very small. The problem occurs with computers at home (I have 2 + laptop) .And I don't know if it matters, but I remember that I started feeling pain literally a few weeks after switching from windows 7 to 10 a few good years ago.

And as for doctors and medicine, I never got sick from anything and I believed that we have really advanced medicine these days. But since my eye problems started, I see that if you don't have something in the "common diseases" category, doctors throw up their hands.

I too was always diagnosed only with -0.25/-0.50 astigmatism of the left eye, until I saw an orthoptist who picked some degree of heterophoria. Have you checked on that? In any case, my phoria has significantly improved by doing vision therapy and yet I struggle with electronics and lighting, and I am clueless about the true cause. I can use many modern devices without problems whereas some displays and some lights knock me out instantly.

In my previous job it took me a while to figure out that the overhead lighting in the office was causing most of the visual issues I was blaming on my MacBook Air. I could use the Mac without discomfort at home. The difference was like day to night. Have you by chance changed lighting at home since the appearance of your symptoms?

Interesting thing, my defect is identical! Have you ever thought about laser correction of this defect? I wonder if it would not help, because perhaps astigmatism is the cause ... but on the other hand, certainly not everyone on this forum has astigmatism, and the symptoms are still there. I don't know what to think about all this anymore.

Please tell me, what specific vision therapy are you referring to? Do you do any kind of exercise? On August 4, I have an appointment at the best ophthalmology clinic in Poland, I will certainly give the doctor the possibility that it may be heterophoria. Thank you

Yes, but the image projected by the projector does not shine directly into your eyes. The image generally also seems more eye-friendly, especially bright colors

I can only watch SD quality picture. I have a Sony tv 55x85f and brightness is set so 0 and contrast max 40. Which is half what Rtings suggested for good picture. Also same in phones. I have Motorola E32s. No PWM and I always look from Notebookcheck pages contrast level of device that it is low. This is the lowest contrast screen (around 750) without PWM. Much better than previous which had around 900. Sony tv updated itself and now the movement seems more "real". Like there's some sort of motionflow on, but everything is off. And that causes problems when watching. And you can't undo it. Never owned a computer. Irritating

It is not the cause. 100%. Once I gave in and tried glasses. I stopped using them after a couple of days because the correction was causing headache around the left (astigmatic) eye, which I never ever experienced before. Now, I may have got used to the correction had I insisted, but definitely the glasses did nothing to soothe my eyestrain and neck pain. Instant symptoms with and without glasses in front of a bad device.

I would hope that no doctor proposes to do laser surgery for such a small defect.

I have Benq685. More relief from this projector was given to me by buying a monitor with bfi technology, one with it is also only a matter of time before my eyes start to hurt

I was also surprised recently when I tried a projector and it also bothered me. It was a 4k (which in almost all projectors means "pixel shifting" means flicker) DLP projector (DLP also = flicker). What kind of projector did you try Shadow9009?

I have had LED desk lamps cause the same symptoms, so I'm wondering if LEDs themselves now flicker imperceptibly.
