Just replaced iPhone 15 display with LCD

I’ve just had my iPhone 15 display replaced with LCD and I’d like to share my experience as I know many people are considering this as an option to use new iphone without PWM issues.

Pros:

no more migraines, dizziness, nausea!!!!
so far no issues with increased battery drain
no overheating (some people were warning against that)

Cons:

quite shitty colors compared to original oled (which I expected) and to original iphone 11 lcd (which was a bit disappointing); nevertheless, I don’t care cause now I can finally use a new phone (my iPhone 11 was slowly dying)
display is slightly thicker (which I knew was going to happen) but doesn’t bother me at all

The manufacturer of the new display is JK.

To sum up, I can finally use new iphone without feeling sick 🙂 I don’t want to switch to android devices, I also don’t like iphone SE, so I guess it will be my way to deal with pwm sensitivity as long as apple will continue to make phones that burn through my retina 🙂

eyestrainsolutions There are no measurements to prove that this screen is safe and flicker free. my friend installed an incell screen on his iPhone 15 Plus and he has Temporal Dithering, much worse than on his iPhone 14 Plus.

I wanted to post in this thread on reddit about Temporal Dithering and my measurements, but my posts and comments are being deleted and I don't know why

snksmxnzkz how did your friend figure out that the problem is temporal dithering? Did he try a double invert trick to disable it? Did he use it with brightness that don't trigger PWM dimming?

Ivan_P The screen doesn't use PWM, it's the pixels on the edges of the fonts and screen that flicker, on some colors, especially strong on white. i don't know what double inverting is. if you explain it, i can answer more precisely

I tried changing the screen of iphone 15 to an LDC but it has a really bad ghosting effect! I feel like throwing up every time I scroll something!

Which brand did you use? I just got an iPhone 15 and looking at all options. I found many different brands but it’s hard to know what you are purchasing. Thanks.

I don't use my Incell iphone without it since I feel how temporal dithering loaded my eyes.

And I would check if screen really don't use PWM with camera or with opple device. Mine screen don't use PWM only at 100% brightness, so anything lower caused problems

I saw there is the INCELL FHD model which come also in the ItruVision spec.

Hello. I tested a lot of screens for different iPhones. 12,13,14,15

While I'm too lazy to describe everything, maybe someday I'll make a detailed report.

Now I'm testing the double inversion method, I don't really understand how well it works with JK and HL iPhone 15 displays, but RJ for 13 and 14 definitely works.

Botvinic How did you find it compared to the original Apple IPS displays that we can find on the iPhone SE 2020 and 2022, for example? What do you mean by reverse mode? I currently have an iPhone 12 Mini and an iPhone SE 2016 and I'm considering whether it would be worth investing in the INCELL or keeping the SE 2016

Hi, I just want to give some insights about my Incell Results. After updating my old XR to IOS 15 2 years ago I had to leave Apple and since then work with an Honor 90 lite. The Honor is great on my eyes, eye strain is a 0/10 !! But I frequently need my phone camera and the Honor's is just akward. And I miss some other features of IOS.

So I bought a broken iPhone 12 Pro an tested the following:

JK Incell: Works better with current IOS then my old XR which is on IOS 17. I would say eye strain is a 6/10.
RJ Incell: Better then the JK but not perfect. Eye strain is a 4/10.

I just ordered a blue light filter to add to the RJ. I hope this will help improve the situation!
