2 different motherboards. 1 causes strain. Same cpu/igpu

Hello so I have tested this months back and I don't think I ever posted about it here so just wanted to share!

I had 2 desktops I built

Asus x670e crosshair / 7950x ryzen / amd Raphael igpu
MSI MPG B650I Edge / 7950x ryzen / amd Raphael igpu

The only difference obviously is the motherboard and I can say that the Asus x670e board was severely uncomfortable instantly. The b650i was comfortable. This was sitting in the bios where I felt the discomfort. I am shocked how the motherboard can cause such discomfort. This was tested with my VA tv and a HDMI cable.

I did also try the Asus b650e itx and the ASRock pg b650e motherboard but didn't spend a lot of time with them but the little amount of time in bios they felt fine too. Just the ATX x670e crosshair was HORRIBLE.

jordan did you try to check on dithering with a capture card for both those motherboards?

Ivan_P I did not. The only one I kept was the msi b650i. I wish I would've checked before selling the rest. I haven't put Windows or any other OS on it yet, just is sitting around since I bought it for crypto mining that I don't do anymore. I gotta go through all my hardware and test them still including my spectrumview.com monitor because I don't have a known fully safe setup + monitor yet.

jordan I suppose that you didn't fully test b650i as motherboard for daily use?

I also have a problem with some ASUS motherboards. So I'm also still in search of a safe PC build

Ivan_P I haven't tested it for daily use yet since I don't have a known safe screen yet. My TV feels the best but still causes weird Spacey feeling after some use. The effects with the boards were definitely noticeable right away. If your looking for a safe pc setup that someone tested with a capture card for dithering the member "jack" has tested his z490 EVGA dark / 10900kf/ rtx quadro 4000 (not a4000) to be safe for him and no dither on GPU output. I just haven't found a good screen yet. Hopefully the spectrum view monitor ends up being wonderful when I test it soon

The video BIOS for integrated graphics cards is usually embedded in the motherboard's BIOS/UEFI. The driver, in theory, can take some settings from there. Different motherboards may have different parameter values embedded in the BIOS/UEFI, including dithering.

WhisperingWind that's good to know I wasn't exactly sure but that makes sense because the difference was huge with discomfort.

Sunspark I don't blame you I wouldn't touch anything either! Not worth it. A lot of times you can't roll back a bios update either unless you have a cha341

Yeah, it's part of why I never updated my bios after a certain version. Too afraid of something changing because they made a change to the code for the video bios. It's possible it is for the better, but I can't risk it because what I have is comfortable. My daily PC is about 9 years old now. The monitor is 15 years old.
