  • Comprehensive List of What to Check in Windows 10

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of settings to check in Windows 10 to reduce eyestrain? Example:

  • Check and disable dithering
  • Auto scale apps
  • Set RGB to full to reduce washed out screen
  • …. Etc
  1. OS build which is safe: win10 LTSC 1809 17763.1098. No monitor ICM profile (add extra "dithering")
  2. gtx1060 with nvidia driver 451.67 config: FULL range, RGB, 8-bpc in DisplayPort cable (this disactivate nvidia output dithering)

Tab "Display -> Adjust desktop color settings": use Nvidia settings checkbox

This checkbox become unavailable in 460.79+ versions and I feel strain in gtx1060 with newest drivers. I think in 451.67 it restrict for apps to use ? CPU acceleration ? and force GPU for it

  1. Firefox 133.0.3 adjust in about:config:

    gfx.color_management.mode = 0, gfx.color_management.rendering_intent = -1

  2. Personally in my gigabyte z390d F2 BIOS settings: no CPU overclock, no DDR4 overclock (2133mhz JEDEC ram feels better than 2400 / 2666 mhz JEDEC RAM, and much better than using XMP profiles 3200/3600 mhz). I dont know how it works. Before it, in "past 4 year times", I always used CPU overclock and RAM XMP profiles

    simplex so using an ICC profile is a problem? I thought it made the screen more in tune to manufacturer standards… but I could see how a profile could cause issues if it’s adjusting settings to change things.

      Dizzy

      Your monitor have EDID data which have basic colorspace coordinates.

      But also, you monitor have some color shift ( for example blue have green tint, red have orange look etc )

      Using ICC profile, you add new additional chain in grapfic pipeline, which transform colors. In my experience, all extra color-convertions, gives extra strain
