I’m glad somebody finally has the phone. I would definitely like to hear more from you as you use it for longer periods as this phone is on my list as well. I need something that I can daily with updated apps and browser. I might use this off of the Wi-Fi on my old usable iPhone for the time being and just have to carry two phones around.
Just got my eink phone - bigme hibreak pro

Thank you for the insight, could you address some of my points from my other post:
https://ledstrain.org/d/3278-should-wait-before-buying-hibreak-pro
- Is grayscale an absolute disadvantage? For example if you are browsing a webpage where some links are underlined with blue line and some other with purple line, will you figure out the difference with grayscale?
- I am reading about a huge gap between the layers of the screen of HiBreak Pro, what problems does this cause? Does it make viewing difficult?

simplex Well also with LED its directional and much more intense light, similar to a laser. I think its a couple things about leds that bug me. I dont get pain, just more neurological effects. I know with amber leds in the daylight tablet it made my vision look really unnatural. I think phosphor plays a role. I didnt really give the led front light a try on this. Just was testing only for other people.
Clokwork so far its been great and much more comfortable to look at. if you want to access your iphone messages on it you can just download openbubbles. You just use a mac only once to generate an id and then you can sell or leave it turned off. I was doing that for awhile to use imessage on android. I set it up on a macbook I sold forever ago and it still works. Blue bubbles requries a mac on at all times as a server but open bubbles does not. My minimal phone (OED panel which is basically eink) should ship soon, I feel like that could be better with actual buttons for a keyboard.
nostrain Not really I mean I use a dasung 13.3 monitor for a pc monitor and its been amazing (eink). I have seen some of those links on reddit and always have been able to spot them.
There is actually a gap between the top layer and the eink panel due to front light im assuming. I personally never once thought about it in a negative way until I read some posts. I still dont mind it. Would be nice without the gap but its not a deal breaker at all. viewing is not difficult either with it

I asked Bigme's customer service if this phone is rootable and they said:
"Thank you for reaching out! The Hibreak Pro does not support ADB, so rooting and installing a new OS is not possible."
Not rooting is one thing but not being able to use ADB at all is a big problem for me, as that's how I transfer MP3's onto a phone.
In comparison the Mudita Kompakt does support both. I almost bought that one, but there doesn't seem to be an e-ink refresh button on that phone to clear out any ghosting.

xenu It is rootable as people have achieved it on xda. I just tested and adb works.

I am waiting for my kompakt. Could always do a keymapping with volume as a refresh button
are you using it in the US?

reaganry Not at all. The hisense a9 is terrible in the US. When I had one it was stuck on 2g or no signal. The hibreak pro has been great. I only use LTE on it, havent tried 5g. I havent tried att but tmobile only. The full band list for the hibreak pro:
5G NR supports bands is as below :
NSA:N1/2/3/5/7/8/20/25/28/38/40/41/66/77/78 5G SA:N1/2/3/5/7/8/20/25/28/38/41/77/78
4G LTE supports bands is as below :
LTE-FDD :B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/66
LTE-FDD :B34/B39/B38/B40/B41
fyi hisense a9 finally started getting pretty good connection after flashing lineageOS. but still not great.
